Jermaine Byrd, is an American basketball coach formerly served as an actve consultant for De La Salle Green Archers. [1] [2]

Career

Byrd started his coaching career at Tulsa 66ers as an assistant. He later worked as an assistant coach for Sioux Falls Skyforce, and Los Angeles D-Fenders. He also worked as player development for Seoul Samsung Thunder. [3]

In 2019, he was tapped as an active consultant for Gian Nazario for De La Salle Green Archers. [4] He was replaced in the next season by Derrick Pumaren. [5] [6]

This is due to a Court of Appeals ruling secured by the Basketball Coaches Association of the Philippines in 2002 barring non-resident foreigners from the head coach's role in the PBA. The employment of consultants by teams of the PBA has been viewed as a "loophole" to this ruling.
