Jerome Rose is an American pianist and educator.
A pupil of Adolph Baller, Jerome Rose made his debut with the San Francisco Symphony at the age of 15. A Mannes College and Juilliard School of Music graduate, he also studied with Leonard Shure and Rudolf Serkin at the Marlboro Music School. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Vienna as well. He won the gold medal at the 1961 Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition. [1]
Rose began his international career in his early twenties. [2] He has appeared with such orchestras as the Berlin Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, and the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. A frequent visitor to London, he has appeared with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic. [3] In the United States, he has soloed with the Chicago Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Houston Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, and many others. Conductors include Sir Georg Solti, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Sir Charles Mackerras, and many others.
Rose began his teaching career at the age of 25 after being appointed artist-in-residence at Bowling Green State University. He has given masterclasses at the Moscow Conservatory, the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the Mozarteum University Salzburg in Salzburg, the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and is a frequent guest at the Toho Conservatory of Music in Tokyo, Japan. Since 1998, he has been on the faculty of the Mannes College of Music. [4]
In 1999, he founded the annual International Keyboard Institute/Festival (IKIF), a summer music academy that attracts some of the world's top piano students. [5] Some of the festival's past and present faculty members and artists include Vladimir Feltsman, George Li, Alexander Kobrin, Alexander Braginsky, and many others. Each year, the festival hosts an international piano competition near the end, called the Dorothy MacKenzie Piano Competition. Prizewinners are awarded international performance and recording opportunities, as well as the opportunity to appear at the IKIF as a performer the following year. The IKIF has been held at both Mannes College and Hunter College.
He has taught a number of notable pianists, including Martín García García, who won the third prize at the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition and the first prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 2021. Among his other students include Magdalena Baczewska, Asaf Blasberg, and Eduard Zilberkant.
He has served on the juries of the Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition, Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, International Chopin Competition, International Franz Liszt Piano Competition, and many others. [6]
Jerome Rose was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Music from the State University of New York for his lifetime achievement and dedication to music.
He has four children and five grandchildren.
Garrick Olaf Ohlsson is an American classical pianist. In 1970 Ohlsson became the first, and remains the only, competitor from the United States to win the gold medal awarded by the International Chopin Piano Competition, at the VIII competition. He also won first prize at the Busoni Competition in Bolzano, Italy and the Montreal Piano Competition in Canada. He was awarded the Avery Fisher Prize in 1994 and received the 1998 University Musical Society Distinguished Artist Award in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ohlsson has also been nominated for three Grammy Awards, winning one in 2008.
Alexander Yevgenyevich Kobrin is a Russian and American music teacher and pianist.
James Tocco is an American concert pianist. He is the youngest of thirteen children born to Vincenzo and Rose Tocco, both Sicilian immigrants.
Fabio Bidini is an Italian pianist. He was a top prize winner at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in 1992 and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1993. He is currently on the faculty at the Colburn School in Los Angeles where he holds the Carol Colburn Grigor Piano Chair.
Daejin Kim is a South Korean pianist, an alumnus of the Juilliard School. He won the first prize in the 6th Robert Casadesus International Piano Competition - which is called Cleveland Competition today, in 1985. Kim is a professor of piano, the Dean of the School of Music at the Korea National University of Arts, and the music director of the Changwon Philharmonic Orchestra.
Lawrence Leighton Smith, was an American conductor and pianist.
Stanislav Ioudenitch is an Uzbekistani-born American pianist, known for winning the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Gold Medal at the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2001, jointly with Olga Kern, as well as the Steven De Groote Memorial Award for Best Performance of Chamber Music. He has also won top prizes at the Busoni, Kapell, and Maria Callas Competitions, as well as at the 1998 Palm Beach Invitational and the 2000 New Orleans International. His win at the Van Cliburn Competition led to a recital debut at the Aspen Music Festival and a European tour, highlighted by appearances at summer festivals in France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom.

Jong Hwa Park is a South Korean pianist. He was prized at the 1995 Queen Elisabeth Competition (5th) and the 1996 Concorso Busoni (4th) before being awarded the 1998 Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition's 2nd prize.

Đặng Thái Sơn is a Vietnamese-Canadian classical pianist. In 1980, he won the X International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, becoming the first pianist from Asia to do so. He has received particular acclaim for the sonority and poetry in his interpretations of Chopin and the French repertoire.
Michael Adelson is an American orchestral conductor. Adelson is a staff and cover conductor for the New York Philharmonic—where he also leads regular clinics and workshops for the orchestra's Department of Education—as well as conductor of the Auros Group for New Music in Boston.

Dmitry Igorevich Shishkin, born on 12 February 1992, is a Russian classical pianist. He is best known for winning the 2nd prize at the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019.
Jae-Yeon Won is a South Korean pianist. He won the second prize and the audience prize at the 61st Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in 2017 and won the first prize at the Karl-Robert-Kreiten Prize, the first prize at the Ferrol International Piano Competition, the first prize at the Dong-A Music Competition . He was a laureate at the Long-Thibaud-Crespin Competition.
