Jerry Coons Jr. (born April 21, 1972) is an American racecar driver. He currently competes in the United States Auto Club sprint car, midget, and Silver Crown divisions. He is one of only six drivers to win the USAC Triple Crown, with championships in the USAC Sprint Car, Midget, and Silver Crown divisions. At the close of the 2017 season, Coons has 19 USAC Midget wins, 17 USAC Sprint Car wins, and 7 USAC Silver Crown wins.
Coons began his racing career at the age of five, driving quarter midgets with his father Jerry, Sr.
In the late 1980s, Coons began racing midget cars at the age of 14 in and around Arizona racetracks such as Manzanita Speedway, Raven Raceway, and El Paso Speedway Park. In 1987, he finished second in Arizona USAC Midget points, with one win at the Pima County Fairgrounds track and four second-place finishes. [1]
In 1992, Coons was named track champion at El Paso Speedway Park, with 475 points from nine races.
At the Belleville Midget Nationals in 1996, Coons caught attention by winning the Friday night preliminary feature over Billy Boat, driving for car owner Rusty Kunz. [2] He repeated as Friday night prelim winner at the same event in 1998 in the CED Motorsports car. [3]
In 1998, Coons moved from Arizona to Indianapolis and teamed up with CED Motorsports to begin racing more regularly. Later that year, he appeared in his first USAC Silver Crown races, including the Sumar Classic at the Terre Haute Action Track and Eldora Speedway's Four Crown Nationals.
Coons' first USAC Sprint Car win came in the CED Motorsports #7c in 1999 in the Friday preliminary night for the Terre Haute National Open at the Terre Haute Action Track. [4] He ran part-time in the series until 2005 when he joined Hoffman Dynamics in the #69 car and finished 7th in the standings with a win at Manzanita Speedway.
In 2008, Coons won both the USAC Silver Crown and Sprint Car championships.
In 2010, he was named National Midget Driver of the Decade, starting 282 features and claiming 56 wins over the course of the decade including. [5] Also during that decade, he won the USAC Midget championship in 2006 and 2007, and was named National Midget Driver of the Year (NMDOTY) in 2007. He reclaimed the NMDOTY title in 2012 with four feature wins including the $12,000-to-win Belleville Midget Nationals. [6]
Coons has wins in all three USAC series classes at Eldora Speedway's Four Crown Nationals, winning in Silver Crown in 2007 and 2014, Sprint Cars in 2009, and Midgets in 2010. [7] [8] [9] He is a two-time Hoosier Hundred winner at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Speedway in 2011 and 2012, as well as a two-time Hulman Classic winner at the Terre Haute Action Track in 2010 and 2013. Between 1994 and 2018, Coons has seventeen main event starts in the Chili Bowl Nationals, with a best finish of 4th in 2009, 2010, and 2016.
In 2005, Coons competed in one IRL Infiniti Pro Series race at Nashville Superspeedway, driving for Hemelgarn Racing, where he started 10th and finished 9th. [12]

Stanley Cole Fuchs, known professionally as Stan Fox, was an American open wheel race car driver. Fox was one of the last links between the midget car racing world and the Indianapolis 500.
The United States Auto Club (USAC) is one of the sanctioning bodies of auto racing in the United States. From 1956 to 1979, USAC sanctioned the United States National Championship, and from 1956 to 1997 the organization sanctioned the Indianapolis 500. Today, USAC serves as the sanctioning body for a number of racing series, including the Silver Crown Series, National Sprint Cars, National Midgets, Speed2 Midget Series, .25 Midget Series, Stadium Super Trucks, and Pirelli World Challenge. Seven-time USAC champion Levi Jones is USAC's Competition Director.
David Lee Darland is an American auto racing driver from Kokomo, Indiana. He was the 1997 USAC Silver Crown Champion, 1999 USAC National Sprint Car Champion, and 2001 and 2002 USAC National Midget Champion, making him the third driver to claim all three USAC National Championships. He is nicknamed "The People's Champ".
Steve Butler won six national driving championships in USAC Sprint Car and Silver Crown open-wheel racing. Butler was highly regarded for his technical skills and performed chief mechanic duties on several of his winning race cars. He also communicated his view of racing to fans both as author and television commentator. Despite a relatively brief racing career (1981–1993), Butler is an inductee into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, the USAC Hall of Fame, and the Hoosier Auto Racing Fan's Hall of Fame. He retired at age 37 to pursue both an engineering career and more time with his growing family. Butler currently resides in Kokomo, IN.
Eldora Speedway is a 0.5 mi (804.672 m) high-banked clay dirt oval. Located north of Rossburg, Ohio in the village of New Weston, Ohio, it features permanent and festival-style seating believed to be in the range of 30,000. The 22,000 permanent grandstand and VIP suite seats make it the largest sports stadium in the Dayton, Ohio-region according to the Dayton Business Journal.

Bryan Timothy Clauson was an American professional auto racing driver, best known for his achievements in dirt track open-wheel racing, such as USAC Silver Crown, Midget and Sprint cars. Clauson was increasingly seen competing with the World of Outlaws (WoO) sprint cars in his last couple of years. Clauson also competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Indy Lights, and IndyCar Series and was a development driver for Chip Ganassi Racing.
Brady Bacon is an American racecar driver. Nicknamed 'Macho Man', he currently drives in the USAC Sprint Car Series. He won the 2014, 2016, and 2020 national championships. He previously had raced for Kasey Kahne and was a developmental driver for Chip Ganassi Racing.
Terre Haute Action Track is a half-mile dirt racetrack located at the Vigo County, Indiana, fairgrounds on U.S. Route 41 along the south side of Terre Haute, Indiana. The track hosts annual United States Automobile Club (USAC) midget car, sprint car and Silver Crown events. Notable drivers that have competed at the track include A. J. Foyt, Jeff Gordon, Parnelli Jones, and Tony Stewart. The track has held events sanctioned by USAC, its predecessor American Automobile Association (AAA), and the World of Outlaws.

The series began with the Sumar Classic at the Terre Haute Action Track on April 2, and will end with the 4 Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway on September 23. Chris Windom entered the 2017 season as the defending champion. Kody Swanson won the 2017 season championship driving for DePalma Motorsports in the #63 Maxim / Hampshire Chevrolet.

The 2011 USAC Traxxas Silver Crown Champ Car Series season was the 40th season of the USAC Silver Crown Series. The series began with the Sumar Classic at the Terre Haute Action Track on April 23, and ended on October 15 at the Rollie Beale Classic at Toledo Speedway. Levi Jones began the season as the defending champion and retained his title over Jerry Coons Jr. by a three point margin. It was his seventh USAC title which tied him with Rich Vogler, A. J. Foyt, and Mel Kenyon for the most USAC open wheel titles. Jones' co-owner Tony Stewart recorded his sixth Silver Crown title and co-owner Curb Agajanian Performance Group recorded its second. Kyle Larson was the series' Rookie of the Year.
The 2018 USAC P1 Insurance National Midget Championship is the 63rd season of the Midget series sanctioned by USAC. P1 Insurance becomes the new title sponsor of the series for 2018. The season will begin with the Shamrock Classic at Southern Illinois Center on March 10, and will end with the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Ventura Raceway on November 22. The series will also have a non points race with the Junior Knepper 55 at Southern Illinois Center on December 15. Spencer Bayston enters the season as the defending champion.
The 2018 USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series is the 47th season of Silver Crown racing under the USAC banner. The series will begin with the Phoenix Copper Cup at ISM Raceway on April 7, and will end with the 4 Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway on September 22. Kody Swanson entered the 2018 season as the defending champion. Swanson won the 2018 season title, becoming a 4-time series champion. Swanson also joined Al Unser as one of the only two drivers in history to win four consecutive Hoosier Hundred races in a row in 2018. Swanson also became the all-time wins leader in Silver Crown at Salem with 24 wins.
The 2018 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Championship is the 63rd season of sprint car racing sanctioned by USAC. The 2018 season will feature 45 races on dirt tracks across the United States. The season will begin with Winter Dirt Games at Bubba Raceway Park on February 15, and will end with the Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway on November 10.
Christopher R. Windom is an American professional racing driver. Windom was the seventh driver to complete a United States Auto Club (USAC) Triple Crown by winning titles in sprint cars, midget cars, and Silver Crown.
Logan Norman Seavey is an American professional stock car racing driver. He currently competes part-time in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, driving the No. 5B for Chase Briscoe Racing and full-time in the USAC P1 Insurance National Midget Championship for Keith Kunz Motorsports driving the No. 67 with support from Toyota Racing Development.
