The Jersey Spartan Athletics Club or JSAC is an athletics club based in Jersey, at the FB Playing Fields, in St. Clement. [1] The club is affiliated with UK Athletics, and Amateur Athletic Association of England. [2]

History

2009

Club junior Oliver Terry won a gold medal at the inter-counties cross-country and world trials in Nottingham on 7 March 2009. [3]

2012

Sam Firby, former cycling competitor in the Commonwealth Games, won the "JSAC Fitness First Spring 10k race" on 5 April 2012. [4]

The Channel Islands are an archipelago in the English Channel, off the French coast of Normandy. Jersey Battle of Flowers carnival in the Channel Islands

The Jersey Battle of Flowers is an annual carnival held in the Channel Island of Jersey on the second Thursday of August. The festival consists of music, funfairs, dancers, majorettes and a parade of flower floats alongside various street entertainers. It was inaugurated in 1902 to celebrate the coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. The largest attendance to date is thought to be that of 1969 when 60,000 people were present. Current spectator numbers are around 20,000.

Philip Bailhache Jersey politician and lawyer

Sir Philip Martin Bailhache, is a former Jersey politician and lawyer. He was elected as a Senator in the States of Jersey in October 2011 and served as an Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister. He previously held elected office as Deputy of Grouville 1972–1975. Between 1975 and 2009, he successively held office as Solicitor General, Attorney General, Deputy Bailiff and Bailiff of Jersey.

The Centre Party was a registered political party in Jersey between 2005 and 2007.

The British Crown dependency of Jersey was represented in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne by a 35-member contingent, comprising 35 sportspersons and no officials. They competed in 7 sports, including athletics, badminton, cycling, lawn bowls, shooting, swimming, and triathlon. They won no medals.

Stuart Syvret Jersey politician

Stuart Syvret is a political activist in Jersey. He held elected office as a member of the States of Jersey assembly from 1990 to 2010. From 1999 to 2007, Svyret had executive responsibilities first as President of the Health and Social Services Committee and, after the 2005 constitutional reforms, as Minister for Health and Social Services in the Council of Ministers. He was dismissed from ministerial office in September 2007 and returned to the backbenches until he was disqualified from membership of the States in April 2010 due to his absence from the island. Sport in Jersey

In its own right Jersey participates in the Commonwealth Games and in the bi-annual Island Games, which it last hosted in 2015. Jersey is a founder member of the Island Games Association and has participated in every Games since the first in 1985. Jersey first competed in 1958 in the British Empire and Commonwealth Games and has since participated in every staging of what became the Commonwealth Games. Youth sports participation includes the Commonwealth Youth Games and Jeux des Isles.

Tour de Bretagne recurring sporting event

Tour de Bretagne Cycliste, also known as the Tour de Bretagne trophée des granitiers and formerly known as Ruban Granitier Breton, is an annual early season professional cycling stage race held in late April and early May in Brittany, France.
