Jesper Hansen (born 1 December 1980) is a Danish cricketer. Hansen is a right-handed batsman. He was born at Esbjerg, Esbjerg Municipality.

Cricket Team sport played with bats and balls

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a 20-metre (22-yard) pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at the wicket with the bat, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this and dismiss each player. Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground. When ten players have been dismissed, the innings ends and the teams swap roles. The game is adjudicated by two umpires, aided by a third umpire and match referee in international matches. They communicate with two off-field scorers who record the match's statistical information.

Esbjerg is a seaport town and seat of Esbjerg Municipality on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in southwest Denmark. By road, it is 71 kilometres (44 mi) west of Kolding and 164 kilometres (102 mi) southwest of Aarhus. With an urban population of 71,618, it is the fifth-largest city in Denmark, and the largest in west Jutland.

By 1 January 2007, the old Esbjerg municipality was, as the result of Kommunalreformen, merged with the former Bramming and Ribe municipalities to form the new Esbjerg municipality. Career

Hansen first represented Denmark Under-19s against the Netherlands Under-19s in the 1997 International Youth Tournament, making six appearances in the tournament. [1] He played for Denmark in the 1998 Under-19 World Cup, making his Youth One Day International (YODI) debut against Ireland Under-19s. He made five further YODI appearances in the tournament, the last of which came against Namibia Under-19s. [2] The following year, he again represented Denmark Under-19s, this time in the European Under-19 Championship. [1] His senior debut for Denmark came in a minor match against the Netherlands in 2003. [1] He made two further appearances for Denmark in that year, before making three appearances in the 2004 European Championship Division One. [1]

A One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of overs, usually 50. The Cricket World Cup is played in this format, which is generally held every four years. One Day International matches are also called Limited Overs Internationals (LOI), although this generic term may also refer to Twenty20 International matches. They are major matches and considered the highest standard of List A, limited overs competition.

His final appearance for Denmark came in 2006, in a friendly match against the Gloucestershire Second XI. [1]

The 2005 ICC Trophy was a cricket tournament held in Ireland between 1 July and 13 July. It was an international one-day tournament played over 50 overs per side between 12 associate members of the International Cricket Council. It came with the prize of a place in the 2007 Cricket World Cup for the five top-ranked teams, and with the prize of official One Day International status from 1 January 2006 for the five top-ranked teams along with Kenya, who had already been given official one-day status until the 2009 ICC Trophy and a spot in the 2007 World Cup.

It was renamed as the International Cricket Conference in 1965, and took up its current name in 1989.

List A cricket is a classification of the limited-overs (one-day) form of the sport of cricket. List A cricket includes One Day International (ODI) matches and various domestic competitions in which the number of overs in an innings per team ranges from forty to sixty, as well as some international matches involving nations who have not achieved official ODI status. Together with first-class and Twenty20 cricket, List A is one of the three major forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
