Christina K. "Jess" Hartley (born December 11, 1967) is an American novelist, writer, game creator, and editor.

Hartley is the author of the novel Exalted: In Northern Twilight [1] published by White Wolf Publishing, and Little Yoshida , [2] a novel published as an electronic serial, by Mind Storm Labs. She has been an author of, and contributing writer to, nearly forty role-playing games and game products (RPG) [3] books from White Wolf Publishing/CCP North America, and Margaret Weis Productions, as well as the editor for several projects from Steampower Publishing and Rogue Games.

From 2002 to 2005, Hartley produced the ongoing feature article, Forsoothly Spoken, for Renaissance Magazine as well as doing book reviews for the publication. [4] [5] [6]

In August 2009, Hartley debuted One Geek To Another, [7] an advice, ethics and etiquette blog for the geek community. In 2010, One Geek To Another was nominated for an ENnie Award in the category of Best Blog. [8]

Hartley was born in San Rafael, California and raised in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. She lived for several years in Easthampton, Massachusetts and then in Bisbee, Arizona. [9] In October 2010, she returned to her native NW, and now resides in Gresham, Oregon.

White Wolf Entertainment AB, formerly White Wolf Publishing, was an American roleplaying game and book publisher. The company was founded in 1991 as a merger between Lion Rampant and White Wolf Magazine, and was initially led by Mark Rein-Hagen of the former and Steve Wieck and Stewart Wieck of the latter. White Wolf Publishing, Inc. merged with CCP Games in 2006. White Wolf Publishing operated as an imprint of CCP hf, but ceased in-house production of any material, instead licensing their properties to other publishers. It was announced in October 2015 that White Wolf had been acquired from CCP by Paradox Interactive. In November 2018, after most of its staff were dismissed for making controversial statements, it was announced that White Wolf would no longer function as an entity separate from Paradox Interactive.

Exalted is a high fantasy tabletop role-playing game originally published by White Wolf Publishing in July 2001. The game is currently in its third edition. It was originally created by Robert Hatch, Justin Achilli and Stephan Wieck, and was inspired by world mythologies and anime.

<i>Orpheus</i> (role-playing game)

Orpheus is a tabletop role playing game by White Wolf Publishing, set in a microcosm of the World of Darkness. Unlike the other World of Darkness game lines, Orpheus has a specifically planned metaplot and a set number of books that were published. Although it uses the same system as White Wolf's other games, ghosts and spirits are the exclusive focus of this story. Other supernatural creatures in the World of Darkness are strongly discouraged from entering the events of Orpheus. It is, however, tied with Wraith: The Oblivion, White Wolf's previous game dealing with the afterlife; some of the events in Orpheus are related to Ends of Empire, the final book in the Wraith: The Oblivion line.

<i>Changeling: The Lost</i> Tabletop role-playing game

Changeling: The Lost is the fifth supplementary role-playing game line published by White Wolf Publishing. It uses the Storytelling System for rules and is set in the Chronicles of Darkness setting. Changeling is the second limited game published by White Wolf after Promethean: The Created, but in April 2008 it was announced that because of the success of the line it would be an extended limited series not limited to five books. Since then, three full hard-cover books were published: Equinox Road, Dancers in the Dusk, and Swords at Dawn. Goblin Markets, available only on PDF, was also created. This was followed by the setting book Victorian Lost.

Exodus is a 2008 post-apocalyptic role-playing game developed and published by Glutton Creeper Games using the d20/OGL system. The game was originally set in the Fallout universe, but due to legal complications with the creator of the original Fallout intellectual property Interplay Entertainment, and Fallout's current copyright holder Bethesda Softworks, the license for the intellectual property was revoked. She is the author of several roleplaying games and supplements, as well as short stories and essays, and is an anthologist as well. Since 2016 she has been an industry speaker and Guest of Honor at several game conventions.
