Jett Adore is an American burlesque dancer. He has performed as part of Stage Door Johnnies, Chicago's only all-male burlesque troop. [1] Due to his career success, Adore has been referred to as the Prince of Boylesque and is an inductee of the Burlesque Hall of Fame.
Jett Adore has a degree in musical theater. Adore dances alongside Ray Gunn and Bazuka Joe in Stage Door Johnnies. [2] [3] [4] The Stage Door Johnnies, founded in 2007, is the only all-male burlesque troop based in Chicago. [5] [6] [7] In 2011 he performed at the New York Burlesque Festival. [8] In 2013 Adore performed in La Divina Productions' show Hotter Then Hell Burlesque at the Kessler Theater in Dallas. [9] In 2014 he was a performer at the Show Me Burlesque Festival in St. Louis, Missouri, the Texas Burlesque Festival, the Helsinki Burlesque Festival in Finland, and the Vienna Boylesque Festival in Austria. [14] In 2016 he performed with Dita von Teese in her show Burlesque: Strip Strip Hooray Variety Show. [15]
Adore has won numerous burlesque awards. In 2011 Stage Door Johnnies won Best Troupe at the Burlesque Hall of Fame weekend in Las Vegas. [16] He was also awarded Most Innovative by the Burlesque Hall of Fame at the 2011 Tournament of Tease. In 2012 he won Best Duo alongside Frenchie Kiss at the tournament. [17] In 2015 he opened his own show, Diamond Studs, in New York City. [18] [19]
Adore also teaches boylesque performance and technique, and hosts a master class called Exploring Masculinity. [20]

Pasties are patches that cover a person's nipples and areolae, typically self-adhesive or affixed with adhesive. They originated as part of burlesque shows, allowing dancers to perform fully topless without exposing the nipples in order to provide a commercial form of bare-breasted entertainment. Pasties are also, at times, used while sunbathing, worn by strippers and showgirls, or as a form of protest during women's rights events such as Go Topless Day. In some cases this is to avoid potential prosecution under indecency laws.
Le Crazy Horse Saloon or Le Crazy Horse de Paris is a Parisian cabaret known for its stage shows performed by nude female dancers and for the diverse range of magic and variety 'turns' between each nude show and the next. Its owners have helped to create related cabaret and burlesque shows in other cities. Unrelated businesses have used the phrase "Crazy Horse" in their names.

The gown-and-glove striptease is considered a very traditional form of the striptease. This routine developed in America and spread to Europe. The performer, usually female, is dressed elegantly in an evening gown with a back zipper and elbow length opera gloves. She then removes the gloves one at a time, in a slow teasing manner, before similarly removing the gown. This type of dance is exemplified by actresses like Rita Hayworth in Gilda (1946) and Natalie Wood in Gypsy (1962) and by current neo-burlesque performers like Dita Von Teese, Bonnie Delight, Bettsie Bon Bon and Havana Hurricane.
Lola the Vamp, also known as Lola Montgomery and Meghann Montgomery, is an Australian scholar and performance artist who is part of the neo-burlesque movement. Her PhD research at Griffith University included her burlesque performance, and she is a senior lecturer at the SAE Creative Media Institute in Brisbane.

American burlesque is a genre of variety show derived from elements of Victorian burlesque, music hall, and minstrel shows. Burlesque became popular in the United States in the late 1860s and slowly evolved to feature ribald comedy and female nudity. By the late 1920s, the striptease element overshadowed the comedy and subjected burlesque to extensive local legislation. Burlesque gradually lost its popularity, beginning in the 1940s. A number of producers sought to capitalize on nostalgia for the entertainment by recreating burlesque on the stage and in Hollywood films from the 1930s to the 1960s. Kimball Allen is an American writer, journalist, playwright, and actor. He is the author of two autobiographical one-man plays: Secrets of a Gay Mormon Felon (2012) and Be Happy Be Mormon (2014). The latter premiered at Theatre Row in Manhattan on September 24 and 27, 2014, as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival. From 2015–2017 he hosted the recurring Triple Threat w/ Kimball Allen, a 90-minute variety talk show at The Triple Door in Seattle.
Waxie Moon is a gender-bending neo-burlesque persona of the performer Marc Kenison. Kenison studied modern dance at Juilliard School and acting at University of Washington. During his six years dancing for the José Limón Company, Kenison performed for the White House and toured other parts of the world, including the war-torn Sarajevo and El Salvador. After co-founding the Washington Ensemble Theater in Seattle, Kenison turned to burlesque and created Waxie Moon, whom he describes as "the gender-blending queer lady boylesque performance art solo stripping sensation".
