The story is about a young Japanese woman, born into a ninja clan, that is trapped between her wishes and her destiny. The story delves into Japanese culture and lore, while also maintaining all of the modernities of the 21st Century, which is when the story takes place. [2]
The series is comparable in many ways to the comic Shi as both are considered to be in the genre, "bad girl comics". Likewise both characters are of Asian heritage. Unlike Shi, the duality of the character Jetta is not caused by conflict of religion or philosophies as much as her own fight to understand truth and her fight against her destiny as the Chosen One of the Toshigawa clan. Shianndrea (Jetta) is a young Japanese woman brought up into the Toshigawa ninja clan. In its history, the clan had a severe struggle with the Knave, an organization bent on bringing evil together to unite the world, and at the end of that struggle the Knave had been defeated. However, legend has foretold that one day a descendant of Yamoto Toshigawa, who first subdued the Knave, will be destined to bring down the Knave as they rise up once again. When Jetta and her clan are attacked by her father and former Toshigawa clan leader Terminus, now leading the Knave, she realizes the prophecy was not meant for her father but for herself. Divided now between her love of a father she once knew, her loyalty towards her clan, and her own needs and wants, Jetta discovers that fighting her own destiny may be harder than answering to her destiny. The Shredder is a supervillain and the main antagonist of most of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles media franchise created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The character debuted in the Mirage Studios comic book Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, and has since endured as the archenemy of the turtles and their Master Splinter.
Sasuke Uchiha is a fictional character in the Naruto manga and anime franchise created by Masashi Kishimoto. Sasuke belongs to the Uchiha clan, a notorious ninja family, and one of the most powerful, allied with Konohagakure. Most of its members were massacred by Sasuke's older brother, Itachi Uchiha, before the series began, leaving Sasuke as one of the few survivors. In one version of the comics, she is the granddaughter of the immortal Shredder, while in the 2012 series, she is Hamato Miwa, the only child of Hamato "Splinter" Yoshi and the late Tang Shen.
Shi is a comic book character created by writer/illustrator William Tucci. She first appeared in Razor Annual #1 and has appeared in numerous books by various publishers ever since, most notably Tucci's own Crusade Comics and the Image Universe. Shi is a young woman of Japanese and American descent trained as a sohei warrior monk, who struggles to reconcile her Japanese grandfather's martial training with her American mother's Christian teachings. Joe Team's female ninja, and since then her code name has been the identity of several other incarnations of the same character, including one of Snake Eyes' apprentices in G.I. Joe: Sigma 6, Chuckles' undercover contact in G.I. Joe: Cobra, and Storm Shadow's cousin in G.I. Joe: Renegades. She is portrayed by Élodie Yung in the 2013 film G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
Taki is a character in the Soulcalibur series of video games. Created by designers Aya Takemura and Takuji Kawano of Namco's Project Soul division, she was introduced in Soul Edge, and later appeared in almost every subsequent sequel. Taki is a Japanese demon-hunting kunoichi and the greatest warrior of the Fu-Ma ninja clan. She is traveling the world on a quest to destroy the cursed sword Soul Edge. Taki has been featured as a player character in every main entry in the series up until 2012's Soulcalibur V, when her place was taken by her own young disciple named Natsu, but she returned in 2018's Soulcalibur VI. She has further appeared in all of Soulcalibur spin-off games, as well as in some other titles such as Namco × Capcom, The King of Fighters All Star, and Queen's Gate. She has been voiced in Japanese by Fujiko Takimoto until Soulcalibur III, and then by Sachiko Kojima and Nanako Mori in later games, while her English voice actors include Desirée Goyette and Cynthia Holloway.
Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiroshi Shiibashi.
