JIA is the first solo EP by Meng Jia after her departure from the Korean group Miss A. The EP was initially limited to a digital release, however after requests from fans it was later released physically featuring three songs and a DVD. [1] [2]
"Drip" is a hip hop song with a video featuring choreography by Jonte Moaning and Hwayoung Kim, while "Who's That Girl", written by lyricist Meng Jia and Matthew Yen, is an expression of her own transformation and growth during her time in Miss A and now in her solo career. Both songs were composed by Brian Lee (who has worked with Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga). "Candy" is an EDM song with lyrics about love.
Miss A was a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. The group debuted in July 2010 with the single "Bad Girl Good Girl" as a quartet consisting of Fei, Jia, Min, and Suzy. Their debut song reached number one on the Gaon Digital Chart, which made them the first act ever to have their debut song reach the top of the chart, the song also became the best-performing single of 2010 on the chart.
Brian Dong Ho Lee , professionally known as Brian Lee, is a Korean American songwriter, best known as a co-writer of "Good Time" by Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen and "Work from Home" by Fifth Harmony, among other songs. He contributed to Lady Gaga's 2011 Born This Way album, providing back-up vocals on "Government Hooker".
