Jillian Jeanette Hooks is a New Zealand accountancy academic. She was a professor at the Massey University and published a number of books and papers on accounting and financial reporting. [1]

Academic career

Hooks completed a 2000 PhD at the University of Waikato titled "Accountability in the retail and distribution sectors of the New Zealand electricity industry" and the Electricity sector in New Zealand remains a strong research topic. She works at Massey University, where she is a full professor. Other research interests include reporting (both industry, charities and public sector) and talent flows. Hooks is a Chartered accountant of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Fellow Certified Practising Accountant of CPA Australia, and a convenor of the annual Auckland Region Accounting Conference. She is on the editorial board of Pacific Accounting Review and a member of the trust for that journal. [2]

In 2011, she was voted lecturer of the year by students. [3]

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or GAAP ( Canada) of Canada provided the framework of broad guidelines, conventions, rules and procedures of accounting. In early 2006, the AcSB decided to completely converge Canadian GAAP with international GAAP, i.e. International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as set by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), for most entities that must follow AcSB standards. For publicly accountable enterprises, IFRS became mandatory in Canada for fiscal periods beginning after January 1, 2011. Privately accountable enterprises had the option of adopting IFRS, or a new set of standards called Accounting Standard for Private Enterprises (ASPE).

Dame Margaret Clara Bazley is a New Zealand public servant. She began her career as a psychiatric nurse and rose through the ranks to senior leadership positions at psychiatric hospitals and district health boards. The New Zealand Framework is an accounting conceptual framework based on the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) Framework. It was issued by the Financial Reporting Standards Board (FRSB) of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and approved by the Accounting Standards Review Board in [July] 2004 under the Financial Reporting Act 1993. At the time the framework was issued, New Zealand financial reporting standards were sector-neutral. Accordingly, relative to the IASB Framework, the NZ Framework incorporates additional material applicable to public benefit entities.
