Gordon Stanley "Mickey" Cochrane,nicknamed "Black Mike",was an American professional baseball player,manager and coach. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher for the Philadelphia Athletics and Detroit Tigers. Cochrane was considered one of the best catchers in baseball history and is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. In his first season as manager,he led the Tigers to 101 wins,which was the most for a rookie manager for 27 years.
William Joseph Buckner was an American first baseman and left fielder in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for five teams from 1969 through 1990,most notably the Chicago Cubs,Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox. Beginning his career as an outfielder with the Dodgers,Buckner helped the team to the 1974 pennant with a .314 batting average,but a serious ankle injury the next year led to his trade to the Cubs before the 1977 season. The Cubs moved him to first base,and he won the National League (NL) batting title with a .324 mark in 1980. He was named to the All-Star team the following year as he led the major leagues in doubles. After setting a major league record for first basemen with 159 assists in 1982,Buckner surpassed that total with 161 in 1983 while again leading the NL in doubles. Feuds with team management over a loss of playing time resulted in him being traded to the Red Sox in the middle of the 1984 season.
James Lee Kaat is an American former professional baseball player and television sports commentator. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a left-handed pitcher for the Washington Senators / Minnesota Twins (1959–1973),Chicago White Sox (1973–1975),Philadelphia Phillies (1976–1979),New York Yankees (1979–1980),and St. Louis Cardinals (1980–1983). His playing career spanned 25 years.

Konstanty batted and threw right-handed,stood 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 m) tall and weighed 202 pounds (92 kg).

While playing eight seasons for the Chicago White Sox,he was an American League (AL) All-Star in 1962 and an AL Gold Glove Award winner five consecutive seasons. Tatum served as the head football coach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,the University of Oklahoma (1946),and the University of Maryland,College Park (1947–1955),compiling a career college football record of 100–35–7. His 1953 Maryland team won a national title. As a head coach,he employed the split-T formation with great success,a system he had learned as an assistant under Don Faurot at the Iowa Pre-Flight School during World War II. Tatum was also the head baseball coach at Cornell University from 1937 to 1939,tallying a mark of 20–40–1. Tatum's career was cut short by his untimely death in 1959. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 1984.
