Jim Rilatt (born 1963) is an American soccer coach who was the former head coach of the Portland Timbers U23's in the USL Premier Development League (PDL). In 2010, after an undefeated season in which the U23's won the PDL title, he was named PDL Coach of the Year.
Rilatt has over 20 years of experience coaching soccer in the Portland, Oregon area at the youth, high school, college and professional levels. In his 14 years coaching high school soccer, Rilatt was named Mount Hood Conference Coach of the Year five times. [1]
As assistant coach for Warner Pacific College, Rilatt helped the Knights to two NAIA District II national titles. In 1991, he served as head coach for Lewis & Clark College and was the head coach of the women's team at Willamette University the following year. [2]
Rilatt served as a coach, Associate Director and then Director of Coaching for F.C. Portland Soccer Academy for 13 years, coaching teams to fifteen Oregon Youth Soccer Association titles and one United States Youth Soccer Association national title in 1994. [2]
In 2006, Rilatt was hired as an assistant coach at Pacific University under head coach Jim Brazeau and helped the Boxers recover from their worst-ever season in 2005. [3] After his first year of coaching duties at Pacific, both Rilatt and Brazeau were added to the coaching staff of the Portland Timbers of the USL First Division. [4]
Rilatt continued to coach youth soccer with Lake Oswego Soccer Club before being hired in 2009 as Director of Coaching for youth club EastSide United FC where Portland Timbers General Manager Gavin Wilkinson serves as Technical Director. [2]
In 2009, Rilatt was named the inaugural head coach of the Portland Timbers U23's of the PDL, a developmental squad for the Portland Timbers. He was named PDL Coach of the Year in 2010 after leading the club during its unblemished (20–0–0) run to the PDL title. [5]

Capital FC is an American soccer team based in Salem, Oregon, United States. Although founded in 2008 as part of the development system for the Portland Timbers USSF D2 organization, beginning in 2011 they were part of the development system for the Major League Soccer franchise of the same name until 2022. The team plays in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The Men's team is known as Capital Futbol Club Atletico. The Women's team, who plays in the USL W League, is known as Capital Futbol Club Atletica.
Kitsap SC Pumas was an American soccer team based in Bremerton, Washington, United States. The team played in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the fourth tier of the American soccer pyramid. From its foundation in 2009 to 2016, the club played in the Premier Development League (PDL), as a professional club. As part of the agreement upon leaving PDL after the 2016 season, the club was unable to use the "Kitsap Pumas" name during the 2017 season while playing in NPSL. The club was officially renamed Kitsap SC until September 1, 2017 when the Pumas name was restored. The club announced on July 20, 2018 that it would cease operations due to declining attendance.

The 2010 USL Premier Development League season was the 16th season of the PDL. The regular season began on April 24, 2010, and ended on July 26. The playoffs began on Friday, July 30 and concluded with the PDL Championship Game on August 8. The 2009 Portland Timbers season was the ninth season for the club in the United Soccer Leagues First Division (USL-1), the second tier of the United States soccer pyramid. The first competitive game of the 2009 season was played on April 25 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, BC versus Vancouver Whitecaps FC which the Timbers lost 1–0. Following that loss the Timbers went on a 24-game unbeaten streak in the league on their way to securing the Commissioner's Cup for finishing the regular season atop the table. In a hard-fought, two-legged series, Vancouver Whitecaps FC knocked Portland out of the playoffs in the semifinals by an aggregate score of 5–4. In the U.S. Open Cup the Timbers hosted Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer in the third round but were eliminated by their bitter rivals 2–1 in front of 16,382 spectators at PGE Park in Portland, Oregon.

Prior to joining Fuego, Smith took the role of CEO and Director of Football at USL League 2 team Ventura County Fusion. Fusion had previously been on a two-year hiatus from the league due to Covid shutdowns but they re-entered in a strong fashion, winning the 2022 National Championship. They beat Long Island Rough Riders in regulation time at Ventura College. Long Island Rough Riders is co-incidentally the first team that Smith ever signed for in the United States as a professional player. During the 2021 season, Smith took an interim position as First Team Head Coach at Detroit City FC. This was to provide short-term help to the current Head Coach and General manager of the Club, Trevor James. Detroit went onto win the NISA Legends tournament that same season.
