Jim Siizer (born Nsobya James on 20 June 2004) is a Ugandan recording artist, songwriter, record producer and actor from Lot Fire Records, [1] a record label based in Uganda, East Africa. He was elected as the Chairman of the Mubende District Musicians Association on June 9, 2024, under the Uganda National Musicians Federation, [2] and one of the members of the Ugandan musical duo More Tyme collaborating with Bx On Da Beat (real name Ben Sserwadda). [3] [4] He sings in Luganda, English and sometimes mixes with Kiswahili. His professional realm of music genre is afrobeats, hip hop, dancehall, reggae, and RnB. [5] His musical journey started back in 2015 when he started out at Big Size Entertainment, a music recording company which was owned by Bash Luks.

Early life and education background

Jim Siizer was born on 20 June, 2004 in Kassanda, central Uganda to Ssaabwe Ezra and the late Nakiwala Catherine. He is a sibling of Nakimuli Lilian, Nantongo Maria, Lubwama Williams, a radio presenter and Aisha Namuddu Ssalabaya, an enrolled comprehensive nurse. [5] He attended Ssempera Memorial Primary School, which is located in Kassanda town. He was admitted to Forest Peas High School, Kikandwa for his O-Level education. He later joined Bright Future Academy, located in Bulaga, for his A-Level education. He has recently completed a Diploma in Civil engineering at Bugema University. [5]

Career

He started dabbling in music in his primary classes and was the school choir leader. His professional music career started in 2020 with his first song "Kuyo" (feat. Abdul Nyugunya), which was recorded at Plan-B Records, during Covid-19 lock-down in Uganda. [5] He sings inspirational and advocacy songs, with his most famous song being "Biri wansi". [6]

Sheebah Karungi, professionally known as Queen Karma and Sheebah, is a Ugandan musician, dancer, actress and feminist activist. She debuted her acting career in Queen of Katwe as Shakira. After quitting Obsessions, a dance group she joined in 2006, she started making music and later rose to recognition upon the release of her hit single "Ice Cream". Afroswing, also known as Afrobashment, or less commonly Afrobbean, or Afrowave is a genre of music that developed in the UK during the mid-2010s, derivative of dancehall and afrobeats, with influences from trap, British hip hop, R&B, and grime. Afrobeats, not to be confused with Afrobeat or Afroswing, is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing majorly out of Nigeria. Kampala Boy is the first studio album by Ugandan musician Flex D'Paper, released on 10 December 2021. The album features guest appearances from Swae Lee on the intro and songs with Navio, Fik Fameica, A Pass, Keko, Shena skies, Wake the Poet, Mozelo Kidz, Kemishan, Lagum the rapper. The production includes Aethan Music, Mio Made, Sam Lamara, Wake the Poet, Bad Chwezi and Lucian.
