James David Sullivan (January 6, 1968 - November 12, 2011) was a Canadian curler from Saint John, New Brunswick. He was a renowned curler, being skip of the Jim Sullivan Rink which captured the 1987 Canadian Junior Curling Championships for New Brunswick, and the 1988 World Junior Curling Championships. In 1990, Sullivan and his team were the silver medallists at the Labatt Brier. Sullivan continued to be active in curling, being a member of Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club, and an Honorary Life Member of the Capital Winter Club in Fredericton. [1] [2]
Sullivan experienced depression and died by suicide in 2011. [3]
Sullivan's cousin was another curler, Charlie Sullivan, as was his uncle, Charlie Sullivan, Sr. [4]
David Matthew Murdoch is a retired Scottish curler from Stirling. As the Scotland skip, he and his former team of Ewan MacDonald, Warwick Smith, Euan Byers and Peter Smith are the 2006 and 2009 World Curling Champions. Representing Great Britain, he has been skip at three Winter Olympics, Torino 2006, finishing fourth, Vancouver 2010, finishing fifth and Sochi 2014, where he won an Olympic silver medal. He served as national and Olympic coach for British Curling since September 2018, before being named Curling Canada's high-performance director in early 2023.

The Jim Sullivan Curling Classic is an annual curling tournament or bonspiel. It used to be held at the Thistle-St. Andrew's Curling Club in Saint John, New Brunswick, but is now held at the Capital Winter Club in Fredericton. The total purse for the men's event is CAD $15,300 with the winning team receiving $5,000. The purse for the women's event is $8,250 with the winner's share being $2,000.

The 1988 World Junior Curling Championships were held from March 13 to 19 in Füssen, West Germany for the men's competition and from March 19 to 25 in Chamonix, France for the women's competition. While it was the 14th junior men's competition, this was the inaugural year for the junior women's competition. It has also been the only year that the men's and women's competitions were held separately.
