William Henry Walker was a prominent English footballer of the 1920s and 1930s. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest footballers to ever play for Aston Villa and England. As a manager he won the FA Cup with each of Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest, some 24 years apart, a record which still stands.
Peter Withe is an English former football manager and striker who played between 1971 and 1990. Robert David Downes is an English former footballer, coach and manager. He started his playing career as a left-back, later becoming a left-winger. The Football World Championship, also known as the United Kingdom Championship or the International Club Championship, was an exhibition association football match played between the English and Scottish club champions on a regular, but not annual, basis in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with varying degrees of press attention and public interest. The 2017–18 EFL Championship season was Aston Villa's 143rd season in English football. It was the club's second consecutive season in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League during the 2015–16 season. Villa secured a play-off place and defeated Middlesbrough to reach the final, but lost 1–0 to Fulham in the final and thus missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
