Jitendra Lal Daspopularly known asJunu Das was an Indian politician and a leader of the Communist Party of India. He was a member of the Tripura Legislative Assembly,representing the Belonia constituency from 1972 to 1977. [1] [2] He was one of the founder members of AISF. He was elected as Secretary of CPI Tripura State Council in the year 1972,the post which he held till his death in the year 1992.

As of 2020,the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the ruling party in the states's legislative assembly and also won the two parliamentary constituencies in 2019 Indian general election. As of 2021,the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has entered the political area of Tripura. It secured more than 20% votes in the 2021 Agartala Municipal Elections securing the position of runner up ahead of the CPI-M. It also secured the position of runner up in several other wards around the state garnering nearly 17% of votes all around the state. Ashish Das an MLA from the BJP has defected to the AITC.
Sudip Roy Barman is an Indian politician from Tripura. He served as the MLA of the Tripura Legislative Assembly from the Agartala constituency which he held since 1998 by winning four elections consecutively on INC ticket by handsome margins. In 2018,he contested from Agartala constituency and won on BJP ticket. On February 7,2022,he quits BJP and resigned from his MLA post. On February 8 he joined the Indian National Congress in Delhi. Again in 23rd June 2022,he contested from Agartala constituency and won on INC ticket defeating his nearest rival of BJP by more than 3500 votes.
Pabitra Kar was the 11th deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly,in office since 18 March 2013. In a political career spanning five decades,Kar was a senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and occupied several portfolios in the Government of Tripura.
