Joe Balsamo is an Italian-American football manager. He is currently the head coach for the Brooklyn Knights' PDL squad. [1]

Biography

Early life and education

Giuseppe (Joe) Balsamo was born in Switzerland and grew up in Palermo, Sicily.

Football career

Joe became a professional player at the Primavera level at age 16, and came to the United States at 17 to play in the North American Soccer League. He returned to Italy to play in the Italian Serie C for coach Giovanni Seghedoni. In 1989, Joe returned to the United States and settled in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.

Joe’s coaching accomplishments include many championships and titles at various age levels, including, in 2002, the championship of the Enzo Ferrari Cup in Italy, where his side defeated the squads of Juventus and Modena. He also coached the United States representative team at the 2003 Danone Cup in Paris.

Joe now is the president and head coach of F.A. Euro. Joe is the current coach of F.A. Euro's Professional Development League team (PDL).

Family Life

Joe and his wife, Lisa, have two boys, Marco and Vincent. Marco is a college student pursuing film and Vincent who is in junior high school. They live happily in Brooklyn, NY.

Giuseppe Baresi Italian footballer

Giuseppe Baresi is an Italian football manager and former player, who played as a defender or as a defensive midfielder. He currently works as a technical assistant at Internazionale. Baresi spent the majority of his 18-year career with Italian club Internazionale, before retiring in 1994 after two seasons with Modena. With Inter, he won two Serie A titles and the UEFA Cup, among other trophies, and also served as the team's captain. At international level, he represented the Italy national football team on 18 occasions between 1979 and 1986, taking part at UEFA Euro 1980, where they finished in fourth place, and at the 1986 FIFA World Cup. His younger brother, Franco Baresi, also a defender, served as captain for cross-city rivals Milan and the Italian national side.

Marco Delvecchio Italian footballer

Marco Delvecchio is a retired Italian footballer, who played as a forward. Although he played for several Italian clubs throughout his career, he spent most of it at A.S. Roma, where he is still remembered by the club's fans for his ease in scoring against rivals S.S. Lazio in the Derby della Capitale, and for the contributions he made to the club's league title victory in 2001. At international level, he represented Italy on 22 occasions between 1998 and 2004, scoring 4 goals, taking part at UEFA Euro 2000, reaching the final of the tournament, in which he scored, and at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Brooklyn Knights

Brooklyn Knights were an American soccer club based in New York City. Founded in 1999, the Knights currently field youth teams in the United Soccer Leagues Super-20 League and Super Y-League. The team also previously field a team in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Mid Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The Knights decided to cease fielding a team in the PDL in January 2013.
