JoaquinClaussell [2] (born 1966 [3] ) is an American record producer and DJ from Brooklyn, New York. [4] He is a co-founder of the party Body & Soul. [5]
Joe Claussell is of Puerto Rican and French descent. [6] He grew up in Park Slope, Brooklyn, [4] and has seven brothers and three sisters. [6] One of his elder brothers Larry, a Latin rock drummer, got him into the music of Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, Black Sabbath, and Jimi Hendrix, among others. [7]
In the late 1980s, Claussell began working at the New York record store Dance Tracks. [3] In 1996, he founded the record label Spiritual Life Music. [6] In that year, Claussell started the party Body & Soul along with Francois Kevorkian and Danny Krivit. [8] In 1999, he released Mix the Vibe, which included productions from Masters at Work, Kerri Chandler, Wamdue Kids, and Dimitri from Paris. [9] In that year, Claussell also released a studio album, Language. [10] In 2008, he released another studio album, Corresponding Echoes. [3]
François Kevorkian, also known by the stage name François K, is a French-born, U.S.-based DJ, producer, remixer and label owner of Armenian descent, who started his career DJing in clubs such as the Paradise Garage and Studio 54. Kevorkian has produced and remixed work by a diverse range of musicians including The Smiths, Adam Ant, Kraftwerk, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Diana Ross, Gloria Estefan and U2, and is considered one of the forefathers of house music.
Larry Levan was an American DJ best known for his decade-long residency at the New York City night club Paradise Garage, which has been described as the prototype of the modern dance club. He developed a cult following who referred to his sets as "Saturday Mass". Influential post-disco DJ François Kevorkian credits Levan with introducing the dub aesthetic into dance music. Along with Kevorkian, Levan experimented with drum machines and synthesizers in his productions and live sets, ushering in an electronic, post-disco sound that presaged the ascendence of house music. He DJ'd at Club Zanzibar in the 1980s as well, home to the Jersey Sound brand of deep house or garage house.

Born into the 90's [sic] is R. Kelly's collaboration album with his group Public Announcement. Released in January 1992, the album became an R&B hit with the success of singles such as "She's Got That Vibe", "Dedicated," and Kelly's first two #1 R&B hits: "Honey Love," and "Slow Dance ." Honey Love topped the Billboard R&B Singles chart for 2 weeks, while "She's Got That Vibe" and "Slow Dance " hit the Top 40 respectively. By June 1992, Born into the 90's was eventually certified platinum and picked up an American Music Award nomination for Favorite Soul/R&B Single. This would be R. Kelly's only album with Public Announcement as he separated from the group before he began recording his next album.
Gerald Maxwell Rivera, known mononymously as Maxwell, is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. Along with fellow musicians D'Angelo and Erykah Badu, Maxwell has been credited as an originator of the "neo soul" movement that rose to prominence during the late 1990s. He released his debut studio album Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite in 1996 to widespread critical acclaim and commercial success. The album was certified 2x Platinum and it was the first of four consecutive Platinum-selling studio albums. Maxwell released Embrya in 1998, Now in 2001 and BLACKsummers'night in 2009. BLACKsummers'night was nominated for 6 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year for "Pretty Wings". Maxwell released his fifth studio album blackSUMMERS'night in 2016.
