Joseph Anthony McIntosh (born August 4,1951) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher.
Born in Billings,Montana, [1] McIntosh played for a local American Legion Baseball team as a pitcher and shortstop. After graduating from Billings Senior High School in 1969,he attended Washington State University,where he pitched for the school's baseball team. [2] McIntosh received a degree from Washington State in 1973, [3] and was drafted by the San Diego Padres that year. He began his professional career with the Walla Walla Padres of the Northwest League,posting an 8–6 win–loss record and a 2.44 earned run average (ERA). In 1974,McIntosh was promoted to the Triple-A Hawaii Islanders of the Pacific Coast League,where he was 9–11 with a 5.27 ERA. [1]
McIntosh was called up to the Major Leagues later in 1974. He went 0–4 in 10 games for the Padres,including five starts,and had a 3.62 ERA. In 1975,he started 28 games for the Padres,and made nine relief appearances as well. McIntosh was 8–15 with a 3.69 ERA during the 1975 season,and pitched four complete games,including his only major league shutout. Following the season,in which he was fourth in the National League in losses, [4] McIntosh was traded along with Larry Hardy to the Houston Astros for Doug Rader on December 11,1975, [5] and never pitched in the big leagues again. [4] He finished his career by appearing in four games for the Gulf Coast League Astros in 1979. [1] In 1988,Washington State University inducted McIntosh into its WSU Athletic Hall of Fame. [6]

Gaylord Jackson Perry was an American right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for eight teams from 1962 to 1983,becoming one of the most durable and successful pitchers in history. A five-time All-Star,Perry was the first pitcher to win the Cy Young Award in both leagues. He won the American League (AL) award in 1972 after leading the league with 24 wins with a 1.92 earned run average (ERA) for the fifth-place Cleveland Indians,and took the National League (NL) award in 1978 with the San Diego Padres after again leading the league with 21 wins;his Cy Young Award announcement just as he turned the age of 40 made him the oldest to win the award,which stood as a record for 26 years. He and his older brother Jim Perry,who were Cleveland teammates in 1974–1975,became the first brothers to both win 200 games in the major leagues,and remain the only brothers to both win Cy Young Awards.

The two-time National League All-Star pitched a no-hitter on June 23,1971 - and slugged two home runs to support his own effort. Wise was the winning pitcher for the Boston Red Sox in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series,considered by some to be the greatest Series game ever played.

David Arthur Roberts was an American professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a left-handed pitcher from 1969 to 1981 for eight teams. He was second in the National League (NL) with a 2.10 earned run average (ERA) in 1971 for the San Diego Padres,after which he was traded to the Houston Astros,where he spent the four most productive years of his career. Roberts was also a member of the 1979 World Series winning Pittsburgh Pirates team. Over his major league career he won 103 games.
