Joel Kristian Naukkarinen (born 30 March 1993) [1] is a competitive, Finnish rower. Naukkarinen is a four-time world champion in indoor rowing, a ten-time World Championship medalist and a three-time European Championship medalist.
Naukkarinen holds 16 Finnish records and one standing world record. Naukkarinen has 152 Finnish Championship medals. Naukkarinen has won the Nordic Championships in 2015 and 2022. [2]
In February 2022, Naukkarinen was awarded Rower of the Month by the World Rowing Federation. [3]

In 2015, Naukkarinen became the first men's open category rower to win the Finnish Championship title in all distances (500 m, 2,000 m, 10,000 m and 42,195 m). [4]
In total Naukkarinen has won 9 World Championship medals and 4 European Championship medals in indoor rowing. [5] [6] [7]
Naukkarinen has broken the world records for 100 m, one minute and 100 kilometers. [8] [9] His 100 kilometer record of 6:06:06.1 (average speed 1:49.8/500 m) is still standing, from when Naukkarinen rowed at the Kuopio Market Square at the opening of the Christmas season on 24 November 2018. In January 2023, Naukkarinen earned the silver for the men’s 2000 m at the European World Indoor Championships in Paris, France with a time of 05:51.5. [12] [13]
In November 2022, Naukkarinen qualified and was invited to participate in the World Indoor Rowing Championships in Mississauga, Canada. [14] He ranked first out of 10 men invited to the Versa Challenge to determine the most fit versatile rower in the world. [15] [16] On 26 March 2023, Naukkarinen earned the title of World Indoor Rowing Versa Champion after completing 4 indoor rowing events over 2 days. [17]

In the 2022 World Championships Beach sprint Naukkarinen won Finland’s first medal in the Coastal Rowing World Championships in Saundersfoot, Wales. [19]

The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Marcin Przemysław Lewandowski is a Polish retired middle-distance runner. He won the bronze medal in the 1500 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships and silver in the same event at the 2018 World Indoor Championships. At the European Athletics Championships, Lewandowski claimed gold in the 800 metres in 2010 and silvers in 2016 and 2018 for the 800 m and 1500 m respectively. He took also five medals at the European Indoor Championships, including three golds between 2015 and 2019, and two silvers in 2011 and 2021.
Martin Sinković is a Croatian rower. He is the younger brother of rower Valent Sinković, with whom he won the gold medal in Men's double sculls at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. He had previously won the silver in the men's quadruple sculls at the 2012 Summer Olympics with his brother, David Šain and Damir Martin.
Joshua Dunkley-Smith is an Australian former representative rower. He was a national champion, a dual Olympian, two-time silver Olympic medal winner, and won medals at five World Rowing Championships.
Maximilian Reinelt was a German rower and physician. He won a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics, as well as two World Championships and four European Championships. Anna Kiełbasińska is a Polish sprinter who competed occasionally also in hurdling events. She won the bronze medal in the 400 metres as well as silver medals in the 4 x 100 m and 4 x 400 m relays at the 2022 European Championships. Kiełbasińska earned bronze for the 400 m at the 2023 European Indoor Championships. She won several major medals as part of Polish 4 x 400 m relay teams and also individual medals at European Under-20 and U23 Championships.
Mohamed Karim Sbihi is a British rower. He is a three-time Olympian and Olympic medal winner. He won a gold medal in the coxless four at 2016 Rio Olympics, and at the 2012 London Olympics he was in the British crew that won the bronze medal in the men's eight. He returned to the eight for the 2020 Tokyo games, again winning bronze.
Dmytro Valeriyovych Mikhay is a Ukrainian rower. He won the gold medal in the quadruple sculls at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, with what is still a world's fastest time as of September 2018.

Wilma Anna Helena Murto is a Finnish pole vaulter. She won the gold medal at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich with a jump of 4.85 m, equalling the championships record and setting a new Finnish record. Murto claimed also victory at the 2023 European Indoor Championships, making her the first Finnish woman in history to win gold at these championships.
Spencer Alf Turrin is an Australian representative rower. He is a national champion, twice world champion, a dual Olympian and an Olympic champion. He competed and won medals in the Australian senior men's coxless four at every World Rowing Championship from 2013 to 2018, culminating in consecutive world championship gold at Sarasota 2017 and 2018 Plovdiv. He rowed in the two seat of the Australian men's coxless four to a gold medal victory at the Tokyo Olympics.
Daryll Neita is a British sprinter. In 2022, she won her first individual international medals, with bronze in the 100 metres at both the European Championships and Commonwealth Games. Neita claimed bronze for the 60 metres at the 2023 European Indoor Championships. She has won several medals as part of Great Britain 4 × 100 m relay teams, including Olympic bronze medals in 2016 and 2021, World Championships silver medals in 2017 and 2019, and European gold in 2018.
Oliver Zeidler is a German rower and former swimmer. He is the reigning world champion in the men's single scull won at the 2019 World Rowing Championships and defended at the 2022 World Rowing Championships. He is the current World Games champion in indoor rowing in the open men's 2000 m class.
Diana Dymchenko is a Ukrainian rower. She won bronze medal at the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
