Sarpong Siriboe Boateng (born October 14, 1976), also known by the stage name Joey the Jerk and formerly Joey Lawrence and Joey's Dream, is an American Christian hip hop musician. He has released two studio albums, Average Joe in 2003, and, Catch Me if You Can in 2015. He began his career as a founding member of the acclaimed Christian hip hop collective LA Symphony. [1]

Early life

Joey was born, Sarpong Siriboe Boateng, [1] [2] [3] on October 14, [4] 1976, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Kofi Sr., and Phyllis Boateng, raised in Paramount, California with an older brother, Agyeman, a younger brother, Kofi Jr., and a younger sister, Amber. [5] His parents married on June 15, 1974, in Los Angeles, California. [6]

Music career

Joey the Jerk's music career started in 1997, with the rap collective, LA Symphony, and he was known as Joey's Dream, [1] for part of his music career in the early 2010s. [7] [8] [9] [10] He released Average Joe, a studio album, in 2003. [1] The second release, Mold Me, an extended play, was released by Illect Records, on August 23, 2011. Weight & Glory is the debut album of Christian hip hop artist KB, released on July 17, 2012. It is a follow up to his 2011 mixtape Who is KB?, and was highly anticipated since KB's signing to Reach Records in 2010. It features appearances by label-mates Lecrae, Tedashii, Trip Lee, and Andy Mineo, as well as Swoope, J Paul, Chris Lee Cobbins, and Suzy Rock, among others. Producers include Street Symphony, Dirty Rice, Cheesebeats, and Black Knight. The album debuted at No. 34 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 9,700 copies. Critical reception was highly positive.

Back to Dust is a studio album by Albany, New York-based rapper Sev Statik and Atlanta-based producer DJ Dust, originally released on October 9, 2007, through Rawkus Records. It was the fourth studio release by Sev Statik and the second studio release for DJ Dust. Back to Dust features numerous guest appearances, including Manchild and Playdough of Deepspace5, Theory Hazit, Supastition, LMNO of The Visionaries, and Raphi, Griffin, and Triune of Tunnel Rats. The album was selected by Rawkus for inclusion in its "Rawkus 50" promotional campaign, and was released as a digital download. Zane Marie Reynosa, known by the stage names Zane and Zane One as well as the names Zane Valdez and Zane Marie, is an American rapper and fashion accessory designer from Whittier, California. She joined the pioneering Christian underground hip hop collective Tunnel Rats in 1993, which was formed by her brother, Dax Reynosa, and recorded three studio albums and a compilation with the group. She also founded the band Saturday Night Freestyle. She has featured on numerous songs and in 2008 released a solo studio album, L.A. Woman. She was active for years as a battle rapper in the Los Angeles scene and was featured in the 2004 documentary The Battle for L.A.: Footsoldiers, Vol. 1, directed by Darren Doane. She also created a fashion line, Zane Marie Bags, specializing in vintage handbags, luggage, wallets, and rhyme books.
