In 2009, she was part of the gold medal winning Russian women's relay team at the World Championships in Pyeongchang. Sleptsova is an Olympic champion in relay at Vancouver.

Tarjei Bø is a Norwegian professional biathlete. Awarded Olympic gold medals, World Championship gold medals and World Cup victories from 2010 to 2022. Bø debuted in the Biathlon World Cup on 26 March 2009 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. In the 2010 Winter Olympics, he earned his first gold medal in the 4 × 7.5 km biathlon relay. On 10 December 2010 he won the World Cup sprint race in Hochfilzen, his first world cup victory. He also won the following pursuit race and anchored the winning relay team. Bø is the older brother of biathlete Johannes Thingnes Bø.
Johannes Thingnes Bø is a Norwegian biathlete who has achieved significant success in the sport. Thingnes Bø has won the Biathlon World Cup five times, in the 2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21, 2022/23, and 2023/24 seasons. He is the male biathlete with the second most individual World Cup victories in history, totaling 88, including victories at the Winter Olympic Games.

Elvira Karin Öberg is a Swedish biathlete. She is the younger sister of Olympic champion Hanna Öberg. Elvira won three gold medals in the youth category at the 2018 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Otepää; in the 10 km individual, the 3 × 6 km relay and the 6 km sprint respectively. Öberg placed twelfth in the sprint in her Biathlon World Cup debut in Östersund, 1 December 2019. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022 she won the silver medal in the sprint race, following up with a silver in the pursuit.

The 2024–25 Biathlon World Cup – Stage 5 was the fifth event of the season and was held in Ruhpolding, Germany, from 13 to 19 January 2025. The event consisted of two individual competitions and two relay races, one by men and one by women. The World Cup leaders after the events in Ruhpolding were Johannes Thingnes Bø for the men and Franziska Preuß for the women. The U-23 World Cup ranking leaders after the events in Ruhpolding were Campbell Wright for the men and Jeanne Richard for the women.
