John Aguiar is an Indian Konkani poet, writer, songwriter and journalist whose songs have been broadcast over the All India Radio network, mainly in Goa and on CDs.
Professionally, Aguiar is an officer with the Government of Goa's Department of Information and Publicity. He has been a journalist since his college days, associated with newspapers such as O Heraldo, West Coast Times, and others.[ citation needed ]
His song Viva Carnival, musically composed and sung by Mukesh Ghatwal was chosen as the Goa carnival theme song in the year 2012. In November 2011, he was a contributor to 'Swatantra Goa', a patriotic album consisting five Konkani and three Marathi songs produced by Buyao Theatres Goem. [1]
Aguiar wrote a bhakti geet (devotional hymn) on Lord Ganesha [2] which was also composed and music arranged and sung by Mukesh Ghatwal, a first of its kind in Konkani language. [3]
Apart from All India Radio, his songs are in popular on CDs like Valley of Colorz, Ek Natem, Buyao Rocks so also devotional CDs like Grateful to Jesus [4] and Hey, Damodara by well-known music composer Siddhnath Buyao. One of his songs is on Lord Damodar, [5] the popular deity of Margao in South Goa, a single solo was composed by Dilip Vaze and sung by Samiksha Bhobe.
He has been on the cast of the film Planning Devachem, [6] which had its premier in January 2018 in Margao, Goa.
He has written four books of Konkani poems and one English book of essays. Presently, he is working on another book in the Roman script Konkani. Has also written several articles on social themes on local newspapers. He was nominated for the best lyrics award at the Kalangan at Mangalore, for the World Konkani Music Awards in 2010.
Aguiar won the Gulab Writer of the Year Award in 2011. He has been a recipient of The Navhind Times Ex-NCC Achiever Award for Literature in 2012, and is a Honorary Company Commander of the Home Guards organisation. He bagged "Goa Chief Minister's Gold Medal" for Meritorious Services in the Home Guards in December 2007. Aguiar bagged Konkani Bhasha Mandal's Rock Barreto Literary Award in the year 2017 for his book Olyo Yadi.

Tiatr is a type of musical theatre that is popular in the state of Goa on the west coast of India, as well as in Mumbai and among expatriate communities in the Middle East, United Kingdom, and other cities with a significant presence of Konkani speakers. The plays are primarily performed in the Romi Konkani dialects and incorporate elements such as music, dance, and singing. Individuals who perform in tiatr are referred to as tiatrists.

Uday Laxmikant Bhembre is an Indian lawyer, Konkani writer and former member of the Goa, Daman and Diu Legislative Assembly. He is noted for his role as the editor of the Konkani daily, Sunaparant, and as a Konkani language activist. Bhembre is also widely known as the lyricist of the famed Goan Konkani language song Channeache Rati.
Sunaparant was a Konkani newspaper in Devanagari script. Based in Goa, India, it operated from 1987 to 2015. It published a special magazine during the Ganesh Chaturthi annual festival. Sunaparant was started on 13 May 1987, after Konkani was made the official language on 4 February that year, after a prolonged struggle by Goans.
Miguel Vicente de Abreu was a Goan historian, a minor official of the Imprensa Nacional. He belonged to the group of Goan intellectuals who were trained and sponsored by Cunha Rivara while he was the state secretary of State of Portuguese India.
The Tiatr Academy of Goa is a government body established by the Government of Goa in 2009 during the tenure of Digambar Kamat as the Chief Minister of Goa. Goa, Daman and Diu Liberation Day is observed on December 19 every year in Goa, India. The Goa Liberation Day is celebrated in commemoration of the Indian armed forces annexing Portuguese-ruled Goa in 1961, after which India was free of any European rule.
Amori is a 2019 Konkani drama film based on water conservation and a nexus between politicians and builders. The film is directed by Dinesh P. Bhonsle, written by R M Vardhan, and produced by Opus Gala. Schubert Cotta has composed the music. It stars Salil Naik, Sobita Kudtarkar, Mayur Mayekar, Prashanti Talpankar, Tanmay Kharpe, and Shaina Mirashi. In 2019, the film bagged the Best Konkani Film award in the feature film category, at 66th National Film Awards.
Matheus Correia, known professionally as Comedian Selvy, was an Indian comedian, actor, playwright, singer, director, and producer known for his work in Konkani films and tiatr productions. Referred to as the "Comedy King of the Konkani stage" by The Navhind Times, he is regarded as one of the greatest Konkani comedians of his generation. He was noted mainly for his comedy performances and was deemed "Goa's most loved comedian".
Joed Almeida, known professionally as RJ Joed Almeida, is an Indian radio personality, emcee, and former banker who hosts The Drive with Joed on the Indigo 91.9 FM.
