Following an Official Information request filed by members of the New Zealand media,the New Zealand Government released details of the Rizalman case to the New Zealand public. The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was criticised for allowing Rizalman to leave the country,which was blamed on miscommunication between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
