John Fitzgerald Bray (born June 17, 1970, in Van Nuys, California) is a former American Heavyweight boxer.
Bray had a solid amateur career prior to turning professional. He won the National AAU Heavyweight Championship in 1991. Bray won the United States Amateur 201-lb championship by defeating Bobby Harris via TKO in semi-finals and a 4–1 victory over Javier Alvarez in finals. In November 1991 he lost in the World Amateur Championships 14–6 to Bert Teuchert. In 1992 Bray competed in the Olympic Trials Western Regionals and won via KO over Wesley Martin and then beat Sammy Denson 3–2, but then lost to Marlon Simpkins 5–0. Bray had a successful amateur record of 124–12.
Bray was also a part-time private investigator and carried a gun for his job. In August 1991, Bray accidentally shot himself in mouth with a 9mm hand gun.
Bray currently serves as a boxing trainer, and trains fighter Cisse Salif and Taishan Dong
Bray turned professional in 1992 and experienced limited success as a pro. He fought few notable opponents, and retired in 1998 after a loss to Josh Gormley.
Lennox Claudius Lewis is a boxing commentator and former professional boxer who competed from 1989 to 2003. He is a three-time world heavyweight champion, a two-time lineal champion, and the last heavyweight to hold the undisputed championship. Holding dual British and Canadian citizenship, Lewis represented Canada as an amateur at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics; in the latter, he won a gold medal in the super-heavyweight division.
Leon Spinks was an American professional boxer who competed from 1977 to 1995. In only his eighth professional fight, he won the undisputed heavyweight championship in 1978 after defeating Muhammad Ali in a split decision, in what is considered one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. Spinks was later stripped of the WBC title for facing Ali in an unapproved rematch seven months later, which he lost by a unanimous decision.
Michael Lee Moorer is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 2008. He won a world championship on four occasions in two weight classes, having held the WBO light heavyweight title from 1988 to 1991; compiling 22 straight KOs in 22 fights and the WBO heavyweight title from 1992 to 1993; the unified WBA, IBF and lineal heavyweight titles in 1994; and regained the IBF heavyweight title again from 1996 to 1997 becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion.
James Nathaniel Toney is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 2017. He held multiple world championships in three weight classes, including the IBF and lineal middleweight titles from 1991 to 1993, the IBF super middleweight title from 1993 to 1994, and the IBF cruiserweight title in 2003. Toney also challenged twice for a world heavyweight title in 2005 and 2006, and was victorious the first time but was later stripped due to a failed drug test. Overall, he competed in fifteen world title fights across four weight classes.
Faumuina To'aletai Mafaufau David Tua, best known as David Tua, is a Samoan-New Zealand former professional boxer who competed from 1992 to 2013. A highly ranked heavyweight contender for most of his career, Tua was known for his formidable punching power, especially in his devastating left hook. He scored sixteen wins by knockout in the first round, which included knockouts of world heavyweight champions John Ruiz and Michael Moorer within thirty seconds of the first round, as well as late stoppages of world champions Oleg Maskaev and Hasim Rahman. He was ranked by BoxRec in the world's top 10 heavyweights from 1996 to 2003, reaching his highest ranking of No.3 in 1998. Tua ended his career with a knockout-to-win ratio of 82.6%. In a 2003 article by The Ring magazine, Tua was ranked 48th on a list of 100 greatest punchers of all time.
Christopher Cornelius Byrd is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1993 to 2009. He is a two-time world heavyweight champion, having first won the WBO title in 2000 after an upset corner stoppage over then-undefeated Vitali Klitschko. In his first title defense later that year, he lost to Vitali's brother Wladimir Klitschko. In 2002, Byrd defeated Evander Holyfield to win the IBF heavyweight title for his second reign as world champion. He made four successful defenses until losing his title again to Wladimir Klitschko in a 2006 rematch. He was ranked by BoxRec as the world's top 10 heavyweight from 1996 to 2003, reaching his highest ranking of No.4 in 1998.
Tony Tubbs is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1980 to 2006, and held the WBA heavyweight title from 1985 to 1986.
Larry Ali Donald is an American former professional boxer. As an amateur he won a bronze medal in the super heavyweight division at the 1991 World Championships and won a gold medal at the 1992 World Championship Challenge and becoming amateur world Super heavyweight champion going into the 1992 Olympic Games represented the United States at the 1992 Olympics. During his professional career, he defeated the likes of Evander Holyfield, Jeremy Williams, Bert Cooper, Tim Witherspoon, and Ross Puritty.
Francesco Damiani is an Italian former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 1993. He was the first WBO heavyweight champion, having held the title from 1989 to 1991, as well as the European heavyweight title from 1987 to 1989. As an amateur he won silver medals in the super-heavyweight division at the 1982 World Championships and 1984 Summer Olympics.
Jeremy Williams is an American former professional boxer and mixed martial artist. He challenged once for the WBO heavyweight title in 1996.
Montell Julian Griffin is an American former professional boxer. He held the WBC light heavyweight title in 1997 and challenged twice for a world title.
Graciano Rocchigiani was a German professional boxer who competed from 1983 to 2003. He held world championships in two weight classes, including the IBF super-middleweight title from 1988 to 1989, and the WBC light-heavyweight title in 1998. At regional level he held the European light-heavyweight title from 1991 to 1992. He was the younger brother of former cruiserweight world champion of boxing, Ralf Rocchigiani.
Christophe Mendy is a retired French boxer who represented France in the heavyweight division during the 1990s. He won the bronze medal at the 1995 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Berlin, Germany, where he was defeated in the semifinals by Cuban legend Félix Savon. A year later he ended up second at the 1996 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Vejle, Denmark. A couple of months later Mendy represented France at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jacklord Bolaji Jacobs is a Nigerian former professional boxer who competed from 1994 to 2003. As an amateur he represented Nigeria at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. A year later he won the silver medal at the 1993 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Tampere, Finland, where he was beaten in the final of the light heavyweight division by Cuba's Ramón Garbey.
Ramón Garbey is a heavyweight boxer from Cuba, who won the world title as an amateur in light heavyweight division at the 1993 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Tampere, Finland. In the final he defeated Nigeria's Jacklord Jacobs. Prior to that Garbey captured the gold medal at the 1991 Pan American Games in the middleweight division.
Georgi Kandelaki is a Georgian former boxer and current boxing administrator. He competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics, at the 1997 World Amateur Boxing Championships he became the first Georgian to win a World Championship, and from 2002 to 2003 held the World Boxing Union heavyweight title.
Ernest Mateen, nicknamed 'M-16', was a United States and IBU Cruiserweight (boxing) champion. He was shot to death by his wife in a case of probable self-defense.
Anthony Victor James Yoka is a French professional boxer. As an amateur, he won a bronze medal at the 2015 European Games; and gold at the 2015 World Championships and 2016 Olympics.
Cornelius "Con" Sheehan is an Irish boxer from Clonmel, Ireland. As an amateur he became the youngest ever Irish Elite Heavyweight champion going on to win a total of a six Irish Elite titles, four at heavyweight and two at super heavyweight. He also represented the Leipzig Leopards in the World Series of Boxing and won a gold and a silver medal for Ireland in two consecutive years at the European Union Amateur Boxing Championships. Since turning professional he is undefeated in six contests.
Don Diego Rivelino Alfredo Poeder is a former Dutch professional boxer. After his pro debut in 1994, Poeder was undefeated for 21 consecutive boxing matches. He gained the WBU cruiserweight title with a knock out over American Terry Ray in 1997, defending it once against Courtney Butler before falling to former world champion Robert Daniels in a bid for the IBO title.
