Politics of Solomon Islands takes place within the framework of a parliamentary representative democratic,constitutional monarchy. Solomon Islands is an independent Commonwealth realm,where executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and a multi-party parliament.
Solomon Islands is an independent island country consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands in Oceania,to the east of Papua New Guinea and northwest of Vanuatu. It has a land area of 28,400 square kilometres (11,000 sq mi),and a population of 652,858. Its capital,Honiara,is located on the largest island,Guadalcanal. The country takes its name from the Solomon Islands archipelago,which is a collection of Melanesian islands that also includes the North Solomon Islands,but excludes outlying islands,such as the Santa Cruz Islands and Rennell and Bellona.
Allan Kemakeza was the seventh Prime Minister of Solomon Islands from 2001 to 2006. He represented Savo/Russel Constituency in the National Parliament of Solomon Islands from 1989 to 2010 and was most recently Minister of Forestry December 2007 to August 2010. He served as Speaker of the National Parliament,from September 2010 to 2014.
The foreign policy of Solomon Islands as of 2008 was described by the Solomon Islands government as a "look north" policy,aimed as strengthening diplomatic and economic relations with Asian countries for development purposes.
The Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI),also known as Operation Helpem Fren,Operation Anode and Operation Rata,was created in 2003 in response to a request for international aid by the Governor-General of Solomon Islands. Solomon Islands sent a delegation to compete at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul,South Korea from 17 September to 2 October 1988. This was the island nation's second time participating in a Summer Olympic Games,following their debut four years earlier. Solomon Islands competed at these games in track and field,archery,boxing,and weightlifting,with one competitor in each category. Only Benjamin Fafale,the weightlifter,completed an event final,finishing 22nd in the middleweight category.

Danny Philip is a politician and diplomat from Solomon Islands. He was Prime Minister of Solomon Islands from 2010 to 2011. Previously he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1995 to 1996 and again from July 2000 to June 2001. He was the leader of the People's Progressive Party from 1997 to 2000,then founded the Reform Democratic Party,of which he was the leader when elected Prime Minister.
Snyder Rini is a Solomon Islands politician who was briefly the eighth Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands from April to May 2006 and was Minister for Finance and Treasury 2000–2001,2002–2003,2007–2010 and 2014–2017. He has represented Marovo Constituency in National Parliament since 1997.

The Shire of Douglas is a local government area in Far North Queensland. It is located on the coast north of the city of Cairns. The shire,administered from the town of Mossman,covers an area of 2,428 square kilometres (937.5 sq mi),and existed as a local government entity from 1880 until 2008,when it was amalgamated with the City of Cairns to become the Cairns Region. Following a poll in 2013,the Shire of Douglas was re-established on 1 January 2014.

The Solomon Islands Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) is a commission officially established by the government of Solomon Islands in September 2008. It has been formed to investigate the causes of the ethnic violence that gripped Solomon Islands between 1997 and 2003. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission is the first of its kind in the Pacific Islands region.
Honiara is the capital and largest city of Solomon Islands,situated on the northwestern coast of Guadalcanal. As of 2021,it had a population of 92,344 people. The city is served by Honiara International Airport and the seaport of Point Cruz,and lies along the Kukum Highway.
General elections were held in the Solomon Islands on 4 August 2010. The election date was announced in May 2010 by Prime Minister Derek Sikua. Although the announcement was deemed to be premature,as only the Governor General has the authority to announce the election date upon the advice of the Electoral Commission,the election date remained the same.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is the national police force of Solomon Islands and in January 2015 had an establishment of approximately 1,153 officers and 43 police stations across the country.
India–Solomon Islands relations refers to the international relations between India and Solomon Islands. Neither country has a resident ambassador. The High Commission of India in Port Moresby,Papua New Guinea is concurrently accredited to the Solomon Islands
