John Gallaher (born January 6, 1965) is an American poet and assistant professor of English at Northwest Missouri State University, and co-editor of The Laurel Review, supported by Northwest's English Department. [1] [2]

Life

John Gallaher was born in Portland, Oregon in 1965, but he was adopted by a family living in Houston, Texas in 1968. He received his MFA from Texas State University and his Ph.D from Ohio University, where he worked for a time as an assistant editor of The Ohio Review. [3] He currently resides in Maryville, Missouri, where he teaches creative writing and composition courses at Northwest Missouri State University. [4]

Work

Gallaher is the author or co-author of eight poetry collections, most recently My Life in Brutalist Architecture, which was inspired by his adoption story, the death of his adopted mother, and the reunification with his birth mother through DNA testing [5] [6] . His honors include the 2005 Levis Poetry Prize for his second book, The Little Book of Guesses (Four Way Books). [7] His poetry has been published in literary journals and magazines including Boston Review, Colorado Review, Crazyhorse, Field, The Literati Quarterly, jubilat, The Journal, Ploughshares , and in anthologies, including The Best American Poetry 2008. In addition to poetry, John Gallaher has been interviewed for his collage art. [9] [10]

Gloria Frym is an American poet, fiction writer, and essayist.

Barbara Henning is an American poet and fiction writer. She is the author of eight books of poetry, four novels and a series of photo-poem pamphlets. Her recent novelized biography of her mother, Ferne, a Detroit Story, was named by the Library of Michigan as a Notable Book of 2023. David Mura is an American author, poet, novelist, playwright, critic and performance artist whose writings explore the themes of race, identity and history. Laure-Anne Bosselaar is a Belgian-American poet, translator, professor, and former poet laureate of Santa Barbara, California. She is the author of four collections of poetry, most recently, These Many Rooms. Her collection, Small Gods of Grief, won the 2001 Isabella Gardner Prize for Poetry. A New Hunger, was an American Library Association Notable Book in 2008. She is the author of Artémis, a collection of French poems, published in Belgium.
