James Joseph "Whitey" Bulger Jr. was an American organized crime boss who led the Winter Hill Gang,an Irish Mob group in the Winter Hill neighborhood of Somerville,Massachusetts,a city directly northwest of Boston. On December 23,1994,Bulger fled the Boston area and went into hiding after his former FBI handler,John Connolly,tipped him off about a pending RICO indictment against him. Bulger remained at large for sixteen years. After his 2011 arrest,federal prosecutors tried Bulger for nineteen murders based on grand jury testimony from Kevin Weeks and other former criminal associates.
Executive Order 6102 is an executive order signed on April 5,1933,by US President Franklin D. Douglas Preston Woodlock is a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Born in Connecticut,Woodlock graduated from Yale College and worked as a journalist before attending Georgetown University Law Center. After graduating,Woodlock was a lawyer in private practice at Goodwin,Procter &Hoar,and had stints at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts. Appointed to the federal bench in 1986,Woodlock presided over a number of noteworthy cases and was a key figure in the construction of the John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse on the Boston waterfront. He assumed senior status in 2015.

Daniel Mark Porush is an American businessman,former stock broker and convicted criminal who helped run a pump and dump stock fraud scheme in the 1990s at the Stratton Oakmont brokerage in collaboration with Jordan Belfort. In 1999,he was convicted of securities fraud and money laundering,for which he served 39 months in prison. After prison,Porush became involved with a Florida-based medical supply company,Med-Care,which was the subject of federal investigations. In the biographical 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street,which focuses on the story of Belfort and Stratton Oakmont,Jonah Hill portrays Donnie Azoff,a character loosely based on Porush. Porush has called the portrayal inaccurate and threatened to sue the filmmakers to prevent him from being depicted.

The Bonded Vault heist was the August 1975 robbery of the Bonded Vault Company,a commercial safe-deposit business occupying a vault inside Hudson Fur Storage in Providence,Rhode Island. It served as the unofficial "bank" used by the Patriarca crime family and associates. The stolen valuables were worth about $30 million. According to The Providence Journal,it was among the biggest heists in US history and resulted in the longest and costliest criminal trial in Rhode Island history.
