Warren Gamaliel Harding was the 29th president of the United States,serving from March 4,1921 until his death on August 2,1923. A member of the Republican Party,he was one of the most popular sitting U.S. presidents. After his death,a number of scandals were exposed,including Teapot Dome,as well as an extramarital affair with Nan Britton,which diminished his reputation.

Born in Portland,Oregon,Harding was raised primarily by her mother,who enrolled her in ice skating lessons beginning at three years old. Harding spent much of her early life training,eventually dropping out of high school to devote her time to the sport. After climbing the ranks in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships between 1986 and 1989,Harding won the 1989 Skate America competition. She became the 1991 and 1994 U.S. champion before being stripped of her 1994 title,and 1991 World silver medalist. In 1991,she became the first American woman and the second woman in history to successfully land a triple Axel in competition. Harding is a two-time Olympian and a two-time Skate America Champion.

He is remembered for his nearly 100 operettas of the 1850s to the 1870s,and his uncompleted opera The Tales of Hoffmann. He was a powerful influence on later composers of the operetta genre,particularly Johann Strauss Jr. and Arthur Sullivan. His best-known works were continually revived during the 20th century,and many of his operettas continue to be staged in the 21st. The Tales of Hoffmann remains part of the standard opera repertory.

The 1924 Pittsburgh Panthers football team was an American football team that represented the University of Pittsburgh as an independent during the 1924 college football season. In its first season under head coach Jock Sutherland,the team compiled a 5–3–1 record and outscored opponents by a total of 98 to 43. The team played its home games at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh.
