John Philip Hart (born 22 January 1941) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from England. [1]

Career

Born in Birmingham, John Hart is the son of former rider and Birmingham promoter Tiger Hart. [2] After initially racing stock cars from 1959, he began his speedway career in 1960 with Stoke Potters. [2] Hart was the last to ride on Birmingham's Perry Barr track (at the Alexander Sports Stadium) before it closed to speedway in 1960. [3] He moved to Cradley Heathens in 1961, the team that he would ride for in eight seasons over the course of his career. In 1962 he represented England against an Overseas team, and also represented a Provincial League select against the National League. [2] When the British League started in 1965, Hart was a heat leader with the Heathens, averaging close to eight points per match. [2] In 1966 he transferred to Sheffield Tigers, where he spent two seasons before moving to Leicester Lions for three seasons in which he only missed one match. [2] [4] In 1971 he returned to Cradley, but failed to repeat his earlier form over two seasons there and in 1973 dropped down to the Second Division with Birmingham Brummies, where was a consistent high scorer for three seasons before retiring in 1975.

Towards the end of his speedway career he became a partner in the Compleat Angler public house at Wirksworth, Derbyshire. [2]

Jan Osvald Pedersen is a former Speedway rider who became Speedway World Champion in 1991 after finishing runner-up in 1986 and in third place in 1988 behind fellow Danes Erik Gundersen and Hans Nielsen. He also won the Speedway World Pairs Championship in 1990 and 1991, both times partnered by Hans Nielsen.

Alan Hunt was an international motorcycle speedway rider who qualified for the Speedway World Championship final four times.

Ivor John Brown was a motorcycle speedway rider from England. He was the captain of Cradley Heathens speedway team during the 1960s. After retiring from riding he became promoter of Long Eaton and Scunthorpe speedway. His off-track occupation was postmaster and grocer of the village General Stores in Wymeswold.

The 2015 National League was the seventh season of the National League, the third tier of British speedway. The Cradley Heathens were the defending champions after winning the competition in 2014.

The National League speedway 2019 now known as the National Development League for the 2019 season was the third tier/division of British speedway. There were several team changes for the 2019 league season with reigning league champions and KO cup winners Eastbourne Eagles, along with the Birmingham Brummies, moving into the SGB Championship. Coventry Bees, who rode their home meetings at Leicester the previous season, did not enter the league, but Leicester Lions entered a team. Cradley Heathens fully entered the league after the previous season National Trophy only commitment, while the Buxton Hitmen decided not compete and only run open meetings (friendlies). It was announced on Tuesday 10 September before the end of the 2019 National Development League season that Stoke Potters' home venue at Loomer Road Stadium had been sold and that the team would not be operating in 2020.

Alfred Stuart H. Bowtell is a British speedway rider, who rides in the SGB Championship.

Gilbert Francis Craven was an international motorcycle speedway rider from England. He earned one international cap for the England national speedway team and was champion of New Zealand.
