John Hawkins is an Australian former representative rower. He was a three time Australian national champion and won a bronze medal at the 1977 World Rowing Championships.
Hawkins commenced his senior club rowing in 1968 with the South Melbourne Rowing club and rowed there till 1972. From 1972 to 1975, he was living in Queensland and rowed from the Surfers Paradise Rowing Club. In 1975, he relocated back to Melbourne and joined the Mercantile Rowing Club from where he had most of his representative success. [1]
Hawkins first rowed at the Australian Interstate Regatta in 1974 in a Queensland lightweight four contesting the Penrith Cup. That crew finished third. [1] In 1976, he contested and won the Penrith Cup in the Victorian lightweight four. [1]
In Mercantile colours Hawkins contested national titles at the Australian Rowing Championships. He won the national lightweight four title in 1976 and was at stroke in a Mercantile crew which won national lightweight eight title in 1977. [1]
Hawkins made his Australian representative debut in 1977 in the men's lightweight eight at the 1977 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam. The Australian eight rowed to a bronze medal. [2] He rowed again in the Australian lightweight eight at the 1979 World Rowing Championships where that crew placed sixth. [2]
Peter Thomas AntonieOAM is an Australian former rower. He is an Olympic and Commonwealth games gold medallist and world champion. He is regarded as one of Australia's greatest ever rowers figuring in senior representative squads consistently from 1977 to 1996 and representing Australia on eighteen occasions at three Olympics and fifteen World Rowing Championships. He competed at the highest levels as both a sculler and a sweep oarsman, in both lightweight and open divisions, across all boat classes. He won twenty-nine Australian national championship titles in his career.
Simon Burgess is an Australian national champion, two-time World Champion, three-time Olympian and dual Olympic silver medal-winning lightweight rower. He represented Australia ten times at World Rowing Championships between 1990 and 2002. He won world and national championships in both sculls and in sweep-oared boat classes during an eighteen-year elite level career.
Bruce Hick is an Australian national champion, three time World Champion and dual Olympian lightweight rower. He represented Australia over a fifteen-year period and rowed at ten World Rowing Championships.
Lyall McCarthy OAM is a former Australian national champion lightweight rower and national rowing coach. He has coached Australian crews to gold medals at the World Rowing Championships and the Olympic Games.
Andrew Gordon Michelmore, AO is an Australian lightweight rower. He won Australia's first rowing World Championship title – a gold medal at the 1974 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne with the lightweight men's four.
Colin Smith is an Australian former lightweight rower. He was an eight time national champion and rowed in the lightweight men's four which won Australia's first rowing World Championship title – a gold medal at the 1974 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne. During his career Smith won four medals at World Championship events.
Gary Joseph James Lynagh is an eleven time Australian national champion, three time World Champion and Olympian lightweight rower. He represented Australia at every premier international regatta from 1990 to 1998.
Alastair Isherwood is an Australian lightweight rower and a former world champion. He won a gold medal at the 1997 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette with the lightweight men's eight. He later worked as a rowing coach.
Michael Wiseman is an Australian former lightweight rower, a world champion and national champion. He won a gold medal at the 1997 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette in the lightweight men's eight.
Darryn Purcell is an Australian former national and world champion lightweight rower. He won a gold medal at the 2011 World Rowing Championships in Bled with the lightweight men's eight.

Richard Garrard is an Australian former representative rower. He was a seven-time Australian national champion who rowed at the elite level for a fifteen-year period from 1964-79 initially in the open division and later as a lightweight. He competed in the men's coxless four event at the 1964 Summer Olympics and won a bronze medal at the 1977 World Rowing Championships.
David Palfreyman is an Australian former coxswain, rower and rowing coach. He was a national champion three times as a coxswain and twice as a rower and won a gold medal at the 1962 Commonwealth Games.
