John Kane is an American politician who has served as the Oklahoma House of Representatives member from the 11th district since November 16,2022.
John Kane was raised in Bartlesville,Oklahoma. [1] He graduated from College High School in Bartlesville in 1978 before earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas. [2] Kane later attended Texas Christian University's ranch management program. [3]
Kane started his career in the banking industry. [4] He later joined his father's cattle company,Kane Cattle Company in 1986. [3] [2] The ranching company is currently run by Kane and his son. Since 2015,he has served as the president of the Lyon Foundation. He served on the board of Community State Bank in Coffeyville,Kansas. [2] Kane is a member of the boards of directors for the Bartlesville Public School Foundation and the Bartlesville Sports Commission. [2]
Kane was appointed to the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Commission in 2021 by Governor Kevin Stitt. [3] He resigned that same year to run for a seat in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. [5]
Kane launched his campaign for Oklahoma's 11th house district in August 2021, challenging incumbent Wendi Stearman. [3] Kane defeated Stearman in the June primary election with 56% of the vote. [1] There was no general election, since only Republican candidates filed for the seat. [6] He was sworn in November 16, 2022. [7]

Bartlesville is 47 miles (76 km) north of Tulsa and 18 miles (29 km) south of the Kansas border. It is the county seat of Washington County. The Caney River runs through Bartlesville.

First elected in November 2020, she lost reelection in June 2022 to primary challenger John Kane in the midterm elections. She unsuccessfully ran for the Oklahoma Senate in 2024.
Scott Norris Bighorse is an Osage American politician. Between 2006 and 2008, Bighorse was a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from the 36th district. From 2010 to 2014, he served as assistant principal chief of the Osage Nation. Bighorse was elevated to interim principal chief of the Osage Nation after the 2014 impeachment of John Red Eagle and replaced later that year by Geoffrey Standing Bear. Bighorse was elected to the Osage Nation Congress in 2018.
