John Maggio is an American documentary film director, writer and producer. [1] [2] He is best known for his films The Perfect Weapon (HBO), Panic: The Untold Story of the 2008 Financial Crisis (HBO) and The Newspaperman (HBO) as well as his work with the PBS series American Experience and Frontline. Life and career

Maggio began his career as a musician as one of the founding members of the band, The Crosswalk with Cody ChesnuTT. [5] Their debut album, Venus Loves A Melody was produced by Hollywood Records in 1999 with the legendary engineer Bob Clearmountain. [6] After the band was dropped from their label Maggio pursued a career in documentary film and has been a partner at Brooklyn based film company Ark Media since 2003. [7] [8] His latest film A Choice of Weapons: Inspired by Gordon Parks (HBO) will have its world premiere at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. [9] He is also currently at work on a film about Italian fashion called Milano. [10]

Street Fight is a 2005 documentary film by Marshall Curry, chronicling the 2002 Newark mayoral election which pitted upstart Cory Booker against the incumbent Sharpe James for Mayor of Newark, New Jersey. Other credits include Rory Kennedy, Liz Garbus, Mary Manhardt, Marisa Karplus, and Adam Etline. Street Fight screened at the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival and was later aired on the PBS series P.O.V. on July 5, 2005, and CBC Newsworld in Canada on May 7, 2006. The Headphone Masterpiece is the debut album by American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cody Chesnutt, released in 2002. It was recorded in his home bedroom with a 4-track recorder and Chesnutt playing guitar, bass, keyboard, and the organ. A 36-song double album, The Headphone Masterpiece features neo soul and lo-fi music, and distorted, overdubbed production. It was written and arranged by Chesnutt, whose mix of ironic and sincere lyrics reflect on personal experiences such as falling in love with his wife and reconciling his love for rock and roll with the drawbacks to the rock lifestyle.
