John Ray Simon Jr. (born December 11, 1978) is a former American football running back in the National Football League for the Tennessee Titans and the Washington Redskins. He played college football at Louisiana Tech University, where he gained 4,852 all-purpose yards and started all four years. [1]
As of 2022, he serves as the offensive coordinator at Grambling State University. [2]

An offensive assistant at both the collegiate and professional levels, he held coordinator positions in the National Football League (NFL) with the Washington Redskins in 2003, the Atlanta Falcons in 2007, the Oakland Raiders in 2010, and the Cincinnati Bengals from 2014 to 2015. He also served as the head coach of the Raiders in 2011 and Cleveland Browns from 2016 to 2018. Jackson compiled a 3–36–1 record with the Browns, including a winless season in 2017, which is the worst record among coaches who presided over an NFL team for at least 40 games.
Matt Simon is an American football coach and former player. He is the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Ohio Northern University, positions he has held since 2024. Prior to arriving at ONU, Simon was a Defensive and Special Teams Analyst for the University of Maryland Terrapins. Simon has previously coached in the collegiate ranks, most notably as head coach at the University of North Texas from 1994 to 1997 and the offensive coordinator for the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens football program, from 2017-2019.
