The Latter Day Church of Christ (LDCJC) or Davis County Cooperative Society (DCCS) is a Mormon fundamentalist denomination within the Latter Day Saint movement. The DCCS was established in 1935 by Elden Kingston,son of Charles W. Kingston,and in 1977 members of the DCCS organized legal recognition as the Latter Day Church of Christ. The organization has also been called the Kingston Group or Kingston Clan,and internally it is known as "the Order" or "the Co-op".

Gregory Holden Hughes is an American politician who served as a member of the Utah House of Representatives representing District 51 from January 1,2003 through December 31,2018. Hughes is the former Speaker of the House for the House of Representatives in the state of Utah. He announced that he would not be seeking reelection as Speaker of the House or as a representative in 2018. In 2020,Hughes ran for the office of Governor of Utah. Spencer Cox became the Republican nominee after the Republican primary vote. Hughes ran to replace retiring U.S. Congressman Chris Stewart in the 2023 Utah 2nd congressional district special election,losing the primary to Celeste Maloy.
Jenny Wilson is an American politician currently serving as the mayor of Salt Lake County,Utah. In September 2007,she was a primary candidate for mayor of Salt Lake City,Utah. In 2016,she was Utah's national committeewoman for the Democratic Party. She is the daughter of Ted Wilson,a former mayor of Salt Lake City. Wilson was the Democratic nominee in the 2018 Utah Senate race,running against Republican nominee Mitt Romney. After her election defeat,she was appointed to replace Ben McAdams as Salt Lake County Mayor,taking the oath of office in January 2019. She was elected to that position for a full four-year term in the 2020 general election.
The 2010 United States Senate election in Utah took place on November 2,2010,along with other midterm elections throughout the United States. Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Bob Bennett was seeking re-election to a fourth term,but lost renomination at the Republican Party's state convention. Mike Lee proceeded to win the Republican primary against Tim Bridgewater and the general election against Democrat Sam Granato. As of 2021,this is the most recent U.S. Senate election in which a political party held the seat after denying renomination to the incumbent senator.
Same-sex marriage has been legal in Utah since October 6,2014. On December 20,2013,the state began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples as a result of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah's ruling in the case of Kitchen v. Herbert,which found that barring same-sex couples from marrying violates the U.S. Constitution. The issuance of those licenses was halted during the period of January 6,2014 until October 6,2014,following the resolution of a lawsuit challenging the state's ban on same-sex marriage. On that day,following the U.S. Supreme Court's refusal to hear an appeal in a case that found Utah's ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional,the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered the state to recognize same-sex marriage.

The action was filed in 2011 by polygamist Kody Brown along with his wives Meri Brown,Janelle Brown,Christine Brown,and Robyn Sullivan. Sean David Reyes is an American lawyer and politician who has been the Attorney General of Utah since 2013. Appointed to the office by Governor Gary Herbert following the resignation of John Swallow,Reyes was subsequently reelected. Reyes is a member of the Republican Party and is a vocal and longtime supporter of Donald Trump. He has served as a county,state,and national delegate for the Republican Party and a member of the Utah Republican Party's State Central Committee.

The 2020 Utah gubernatorial election was held on November 3,2020,to elect the governor of Utah,concurrently with the 2020 U.S. presidential election,as well as elections to the United States Senate and elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections. Although incumbent Republican Governor Gary Herbert was eligible to run for re-election to a third full term,he initially announced shortly after being re-elected in 2016 that he would not run again,but indicated in January 2019 that he was open to the possibility of running again before ultimately deciding to retire and endorse his lieutenant governor,Spencer Cox. Utah has not had a Democratic governor since Scott M. Matheson left office in January 1985. This is the second longest active streak of one-party leadership,trailing only South Dakota,which has not had a Democratic governor since Harvey L. Wollman left office in 1979.
After previously stating that he would not run for re-election,Jason Chaffetz announced on May 19 that he was resigning his seat in the House,effective June 30. A special election was called to replace him with a filing period opening on May 19 and closing by June 30,an expected primary date of August 15,and an election day of November 7.
The United Utah Party (UUP) is a centrist political party in the United States. It was founded in 2017 and is active only in the state of Utah. The party identifies itself as politically moderate,and was created out of frustration with the Republican and Democratic parties.
John W. Huber is an American lawyer who served as the United States Attorney for the District of Utah from June 2015 to February 2021. He was first nominated for the position by President Barack Obama in February 2015. Huber offered his resignation in March 2017 at the request of the Trump administration. However,United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions subsequently appointed Huber as interim U.S. Attorney under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act. Huber was renominated by President Donald Trump in June 2017. On August 3,2017,he was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate to an additional four-year term as a U.S. Attorney.
On July 26,2017,Jeff Payne,a then detective with the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD),arrested nurse Alex Wubbels at the University of Utah Hospital after she refused to illegally draw blood from an unconscious patient. Footage of the incident released on August 31,2017,went viral online. The SLCPD announced policy changes which would affect how police should handle situations involving drawing blood,and the hospital announced it would also change its police protocol to avoid repeating the incident. Utah lawmakers made a bill to amend the blood draw policy of Utah law enforcement,which Utah Governor Gary Herbert signed into law on March 15,2018.
