John Washington Thompson Jr. [1] (born January 18, 1957) is an American former professional football player who was a tight end in the National Football League (NFL). Thompson was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the ninth round of the 1979 NFL draft and played four seasons with the team.

The 1989 Indiana Hoosiers football team represented Indiana University Bloomington as a member of the Big Ten Conference during the 1989 NCAA Division I-A football season. Led by sixth-year head coach Bill Mallory, the Hoosiers compiled an overall record of 5–6 with a mark of 3–5 in conference play, tying for sixth place the Big Ten.
