John W. Hickman (born June 2,1939) is an American politician from Utah. A Republican,he was a member of the Utah State Senate,representing the state's 29th senate district in St. George from 2001 until 2009.
Hickman holds a bachelor's degree from Southern Utah University.
Hickman served in the Utah House of Representatives for house district 75 from 1993 to 2001. He was elected to the Utah Senate from senate district 29 (Washington County) in 2001. He was re-elected in 2004 with 64% of the vote. [1] He announced at the conclusion of the 2008 legislative session that he would not be seeking re-election in November. Rep. Steve Urquhart won the general election to take his place.

Since Utah became a U.S. state in 1896, it has sent congressional delegations to the United States Senate and United States House of Representatives. Each state elects two senators to serve for six years. Before the Seventeenth Amendment in 1913, senators were elected by the Utah State Legislature. Members of the House of Representatives are elected to two-year terms, one from each of Utah's four congressional districts. Before becoming a state, the Territory of Utah elected a non-voting delegate at-large to Congress from 1850 to 1896.
The 1976 United States Senate elections was an election for the United States Senate. Held on November 2, the 33 seats of Class 1 were contested in regular elections. They coincided with Democrat Jimmy Carter's presidential election and the United States Bicentennial celebration. Although almost half of the seats decided in this election changed parties, Carter's narrow victory did not provide coattails for the Democratic Party. Each party flipped seven Senate seats, although, one of the seats flipped by Democrats was previously held by a Conservative.

Craig V. Hickman is an American writer, farmer, and Democratic politician from Maine currently representing Maine Senate District 14. He served in the 126th Maine House of Representatives as the representative for Maine's 82nd district from 2012-2018. Hickman won his 2012 primary election by nearly 80%, and campaigned on ending hunger, eliminating regulations for small farms and businesses, and investing in sustainable energy initiatives. Hickman was elected to the Maine Senate in a 2021 special election, succeeding Shenna Bellows.

Kathleen Riebe is an American politician from Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a member of the Utah State Board of Education through 2018, and now represents Utah's 15th senate district in the Utah State Senate. Prior to redistricting she represented the 8th district. On May 31, 2023, she announced to KSL News Radio that she was running in the 2023 Utah's 2nd congressional district special election. She was nominated by the Utah Democratic Party to be their candidate in the general election.
