The Johnnie Walker World Golf Championship was a golf event held at the Tryall Golf Club in Jamaica from 1991 to 1995.

Contents

The tournament was intended to be an official World Championship event to rival the four majors but was terminated after just five stagings.

The Players Championship is an annual golf tournament on the PGA Tour. Originally known as the Tournament Players Championship, it began in 1974. The Players Championship currently offers the highest prize fund of any tournament in golf, overtaking the U.S. Open which offers a $12 million purse. The Vardon Trophy is awarded by the PGA of America to the PGA Tour's leader in scoring average. When the award was first given in 1937, it was awarded on the basis of a points system. No award was given from 1942–1946 due to World War II. In 1947, the PGA began awarding it for low scoring average. In 1988, the trophy began going to the golfer with the lowest adjusted scoring average over a minimum of 60 rounds, with no mid-round withdrawals. The trophy is named for the Jersey golfing great Harry Vardon, who died in 1937.

1994 PGA Championship golf tournament held in 1994

The 1994 PGA Championship was the 76th PGA Championship, held August 11–14 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Nick Price led wire-to-wire and won his third and final major title, six strokes ahead of runner-up Corey Pavin. It was Price's second consecutive major and second PGA Championship in three years. Following this win, he moved to the top of the Official World Golf Ranking.
