Jonathan Alden "Jon" Merrill (born May 25, 1945) is an American fandom editor and collector who, with Tricia Trozzi, was the co-president of the International Annie Fan Club from 1983 to 1998, and the co-editor of the Annie People newsletter.

A native of Washington, D.C., Merrill was featured in the 2006 award-winning documentary film Life After Tomorrow directed by Gil Cates Jr. and Julie Stevens. [1]

Alan Merrill was an American vocalist, guitarist and songwriter. In the early 1970s, he was one of the first resident foreigners to achieve pop star status in Japan. Foundation: The International Review of Science Fiction is a critical peer-reviewed literary journal established in 1972 that publishes articles and reviews about science fiction. It is published triannually by the Science Fiction Foundation. The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction has called it "perhaps the liveliest and indeed the most critical of the big three critical journals". A long-running feature was the series of interviews and autobiographical pieces with leading writers, entitled "The Profession of Science Fiction", a selection of which was edited and published by Macmillan Publishers in 1992. Several issues have been themed, including #93, published also as part of the Foundation Studies in Science Fiction. The hundredth edition was unusual in that it was an all-fiction issue, including stories by such writers as Vandana Singh, Tricia Sullivan, Karen Traviss, Jon Courtenay Grimwood, John Kessel, Nalo Hopkinson, Greg Egan, and Una McCormack. "Little Orphant Annie" is an 1885 poem written by James Whitcomb Riley and published by the Bowen-Merrill Company. First titled "The Elf Child", the name was changed by Riley to "Little Orphant Allie" at its third printing; however, a typesetting error during printing renamed the poem to its current form. Known as the "Hoosier poet", Riley wrote the rhymes in 19th-century Hoosier dialect. As one of his most well known poems, it served as the inspiration for the comic strip Little Orphan Annie which itself inspired a Broadway musical, several films, and many radio and television programs.
