Jon Rish (born c.1973) is an American former radio personality, best known for his work in the Boston area.

Career

Rish was a radio host for WEEI-FM in Boston.

Rish attended Boston College and began his sportscasting experience on WZBC, the school's 1000-watt FM radio station broadcasting to the Greater Boston area. [1]

Rish's broadcasting career began in 1993, when he was an intern on Boston sports radio host Dale Arnold's WEEI program. [2] He subsequently broadcast college sports on several Boston-area stations. [3] From 2006 to 2012, Rish hosted the Boston Red Sox pre and post game show on the Boston Red Sox Radio Network. Rish served in the Red Sox broadcast booth alongside Joe Castiglione since 2008, sharing time with Dale Arnold and Dave O'Brien. [4] Arnold and Rish replaced Glenn Geffner, who left after the 2007 season for the Florida Marlins radio booth. Rish primarily announced games when O'Brien was away on assignment for ESPN.

On June 10, 2010, Rish filled in on the NESN TV broadcast for Don Orsillo who fell ill just before the start of the Red Sox game at Cleveland.

On April 8, 2013, after being asked to take a major pay cut by WEEI owner Entercom, Rish announced that he was leaving not only WEEI but the radio business as well, saying he had been "accepted into a training program to become a software developer and will begin that career path." His last assignment for Red Sox Radio Network was for the game between the Oakland Athletics and the Red Sox on April 24, 2013. [5]

In August 2013, Rish was chosen by NESN to serve as a substitute color analyst for Boston Red Sox games while regular analyst Jerry Remy was on leave following the arrest of his son, Jared Remy, for murder. [6] Rish also served as substitute Boston Red Sox play-by-play announcer on NESN in July 2014 while regular announcer Don Orsillo was on vacation. [7]

Jerry Remy American baseball player

Gerald Peter Remy, commonly known as Jerry Remy, is an American Major League Baseball broadcaster and former Major League Baseball second baseman. Remy grew up in Somerset, Massachusetts. An all-star second baseman originally drafted by the California Angels in 1971, he was traded to his hometown Boston Red Sox in 1977. He retired from the sport in 1985 after a series of injuries and ventured into a career in broadcasting. He has served as a color commentator for NESN's Red Sox broadcasts since 1988, only taking some occasional time off for health issues.

WEEI – branded ESPN on WEEI – is a commercial sports radio station licensed to Boston, Massachusetts, serving Greater Boston and much of New England. Owned by Audacy, Inc., WEEI is the Boston affiliate for ESPN Radio, serving as an all-network brand extension of sister station WEEI-FM. Don Orsillo American sportscaster

Don Orsillo is the play-by-play announcer for the San Diego Padres on Bally Sports San Diego and for the MLB on TBS. Orsillo was the television voice of the Boston Red Sox on NESN from 2001 to 2015. He was then hired by the Padres to replace broadcaster Dick Enberg upon his retirement at the end of the 2016 season.

Edwin "Ned" Martin III was an American sportscaster, known primarily as a play-by-play announcer for Major League Baseball's Boston Red Sox from 1961 to 1992.

Eric Frede is an American sportscaster who has worked for NESN since 2002. He was previously the play-by-play announcer for NESN College Football Saturday broadcasts until he left NESN and joined NBC Sports Boston and is currently an anchor for the SportsNet Central.

The Big Show is a former sports talk radio program hosted by Glenn Ordway on Boston's WEEI-FM 93.7 FM. Started in August 1995, the show was hosted by Ordway and former Boston Globe columnist Michael Holley. The show ended on March 19, 2013.

Lou Merloni American baseball player

Louis William Merloni is an American radio personality and a former Major League Baseball player. Merloni was scouted by hall of fame scout 'Buzz' Bowers, and played for his hometown Boston Red Sox from 1998–2002 and again for part of 2003. Merloni is well-known locally for his frequent trips between the Red Sox and their Triple-A affiliate, the Pawtucket Red Sox, which has become known as the "Merloni Shuttle" . He also played for the San Diego Padres, Cleveland Indians, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Dave OBrien (sportscaster) American sportscaster

David O'Brien is an American sportscaster who is a lead play-by-play announcer on the New England Sports Network (NESN) for telecasts of the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB), and for college football and college basketball games aired on the ESPN Inc.-owned ACC Network. He has previously broadcast for MLB's Atlanta Braves, Florida Marlins, and New York Mets, and has announced other sports including basketball, football, and soccer.

David W. Shea is an Irish-American sportscaster, who is best known as the former ice hockey announcer for Hockey East and the Boston Bruins. He was inducted into the Massachusetts Hockey Hall of Fame on November 19, 2008.

Dale Everett Arnold is a New England sportscaster. He hosts Boston Bruins broadcasts on NESN and co-hosts talk radio shows on WEEI. He was the Bruins' play-by-play announcer on NESN and has called Boston College Eagles football. He is the only person who has done play-by-play broadcasts for all five of the Boston area's major professional sports franchises.

Robin "Bob" Neumeier is an American sportscaster for NBC Sports and Comcast SportsNet New England, specializing in thoroughbred horse racing. Neumeier is originally from Weymouth, Massachusetts and is a 1972 graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in television and radio.

Hazel Mae Barker, known professionally as Hazel Mae, is a Filipino-Canadian sportscaster. She was the former lead anchor for the New England Sports Network's SportsDesk news program and most recently the anchor on MLB Network. Mae worked for Sportsnet until 2004, when she left to work for NESN SportsDesk. Mae returned on November 14, 2011. Mae grew up in Toronto and began her sports broadcasting career hosting a sports update show on campus at York University.
