The Bangladesh men's national cricket team, popularly known as The Tigers, is administered by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. It played its first Test match in November 2000 against India with a 10 wicket loss in Dhaka, becoming the tenth Test-playing nation.
Qazi Habibul Bashar is a retired Bangladeshi cricketer and the former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team. Under the managership of Dav Whatmore, he has been found to be the most successful captain to lead the Bangladesh team to overcome several milestones. The first test victory of Bangladesh came under his hands in 2004 against Zimbabwe. Under Bashar's captaincy, Bangladesh have beaten Australia, India, South Africa and Sri Lanka in limited overs matches. Bashar is currently one of the chief selectors of BCB, along with Abdur Razzak and Minhajul Abedin.
William Boyd Rankin is a former Northern Irish cricketer who played international cricket for Ireland, and briefly also played for England. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He is the brother of fellow cricketer David Rankin.
David Trent Johnston, usually known as Trent Johnston, is an Irish-Australian former cricketer. Johnston was born in Wollongong, New South Wales, and played his early cricket for New South Wales in Australian domestic competitions. A right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler, he later moved to Ireland, and made his debut for the Ireland cricket team in 2004. Johnston was subsequently named captain of Ireland, and was a regular fixture in the national team until his retirement in 2013. In Irish club cricket, he plays for the Railway Union Cricket Club. In October 2007, he published a book "Raiders of the Caribbean" with The O'Brien Press which tells the story of Ireland's remarkable performances in the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
Dominick Ignatius Joyce is a former Irish Cricketer. A right-handed batsman, he has played 69 times for the Ireland cricket team including three One Day Internationals, six international matches and twenty List A matches. He has also played second XI cricket for Middlesex and Somerset.
William Thomas Stuart Porterfield is a Northern Irish cricketer and former captain of the Ireland cricket team. He played first-class cricket for Gloucestershire and Warwickshire. A left-handed batsman, he has played for Ireland since 2006, and has captained Ireland at all levels from Under-13 and is considered one of the greatest Irish cricketer of all time. During Afghanistan T20I series in March 2017, he passed 1,000 runs in T20Is and became the first player from Ireland to do so. In May 2018, he was named as the captain of Ireland's squad for their first ever Test match, against Pakistan.
Peter Gerard Gillespie is an Irish former cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler, he had played for the Ireland cricket team 116 times up to the start of the 2007 World Cup, including twelve first-class matches and 35 List A matches, four of which were One Day International. Only three players have played more times for Ireland.
William Kyle McCallan, MBE, usually known as Kyle McCallan, is a former Irish cricketer. A right-handed batsman and off spin bowler, he has played more times for the Ireland cricket team than any other player, more than 40 caps ahead of the next player in the table, the retired Peter Gillespie. Only three players have captained Ireland more times than McCallan, and only Jason Molins has captained them to more wins. He has also played second XI cricket for Derbyshire and Surrey.
John Francis Mooney is a former Irish cricketer. A left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium fast bowler, Mooney made his first-class debut in 2004. He had previously represented Ireland in the Under-19s World Cup of 2000 and has captained Ireland A. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut in 2006 in Ireland's inaugural match in the format. In January 2010, Mooney became one of six players with full-time contracts with Cricket Ireland. He was named "Ireland Player of the Year" for 2010. His brother, Paul, has also represented Ireland in international cricket.
Adrian George Agustus Matthew McCoubrey is an Irish cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler, he has played 43 times for the Ireland cricket team since August 1999 including six first-class matches and twelve List A matches. He has also played first-class and List A cricket for Essex.
Carsten Refstrup Pedersen is a Danish cricketer. Pedersen is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off break. He was born at Herning. His brother, Michael, has also played for and captained Denmark.
The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup is an international cricket tournament organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) contested by national under-19 teams. First contested in 1988, as the Youth World Cup, it was not staged again until 1998. Since then, the World Cup has been held as a biennial event, organised by the ICC. The first edition of the tournament had only eight participants, but every subsequent edition has included sixteen teams. India have won the World Cup on a record four occasions, while Australia have won three times, Pakistan twice, and Bangladesh, England, South Africa and the West Indies once each. Two other teams New Zealand and Sri Lanka have made it to tournament finals. Bangladesh are the current defending champion.
Garfield David Harrison is one of four brothers to have played cricket for Ireland. Garfield was by far the most successful of the four, playing 118 times for Ireland between 1983 and 1997, including twelve first-class matches against Scotland and 20 List A matches.
Paul Robert Stirling is an Irish cricketer. Stirling is the opening batsman for the Ireland cricket team and an occasional right arm off break bowler. He is one of the top 10 run scorers in T20 internationals. He was one of the eleven cricketers to play in Ireland's first ever Test match, against Pakistan, in May 2018. He was appointed as the vice-captain of the Ireland team in June 2020.
Regan West is a former New Zealand-born Irish cricketer. He played for the Central Districts and the Wellington in the State Championship in New Zealand. He bowled left-arm, either fast-medium or slow left arm orthodox, batted left-handed. Despite being born in New Zealand, West qualified to play for Ireland in late 2008 and made his first appearance for the team the same year. In 2011, West, at the age of 31, announced his retirement due to an injury to his left shoulder; his last match for Ireland was in August 2009.
Mohammad Asghar Afghan, and also known as Asghar Salamkhail, is a former Afghan cricketer and former captain of the Afghanistan national cricket team. Asghar is a right-handed batsman and a medium-fast bowler. In May 2018, he was named as the captain of Afghanistan, for their inaugural Test match, played against India. He made his Test debut for Afghanistan, against India, on 14 June 2018. On 2 August 2018, he changed his last name from Stanikzai to Afghan.
George Henry Dockrell is an Irish cricketer. Dockrell is right-handed batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler who plays international cricket for Ireland after learning his cricket at Leinster Cricket Club, Dublin. He was a member of the class of 2010 in Gonzaga College, Dublin. In December 2018, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season. In January 2020, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first year in which all contracts were awarded on a full-time basis.
Andrew Balbirnie is an Irish cricketer, the current captain of the Ireland cricket team in all formats. Balbirnie is a right-handed batsman and an occasional wicket-keeper. He was born in Dublin and was educated at St. Andrew's College. He was one of the 11 cricketers to play in Ireland's first ever Test match, against Pakistan, in May 2018. In December 2018, he was one of 19 players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season.
Mustafizur Rahman, also known as The Fizz, is a Bangladeshi international cricketer. He is specialized as a left-arm fast-medium bowler. He has taken the most wickets (13) in a debut One Day International (ODI) series. He is the first player to win the ‘Man of the Match’ award on both Test as well as ODI debuts.
