Dr. Stinson is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and Indiana University, and University of Cincinnati - College-Conservatory of Music. [1]
Dr. Stinson has performed with opera companies and festivals throughout the United States, including Cincinnati Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Opera Omaha, Dayton Opera, Kentucky Opera, Opera Memphis, Opera New Jersey, Cleveland Opera, Central City Opera, Ohio Light Opera, and the Carmel Bach Festival. Dr. Stinson is currently a professor of voice at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.
Dr. Stinson's song cycles have been performed in Indiana, Ohio, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Missouri, and Wisconsin. His first children's opera, The Three Bears, was commissioned by Opera Memphis and premiered in 2007. In 2011, Dr. Stinson's second children's opera, Knightly News, premiered in Chicago by the Chicago Opera Playhouse. During the 2012–2013 season, Atlanta Opera toured Knightly News throughout northern Georgia for 11 weeks. [2]
Kathleen Deanna Battle is an American operatic soprano known for her distinctive vocal range and tone. Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, Battle initially became known for her work within the concert repertoire through performances with major orchestras during the early and mid-1970s. She made her opera debut in 1975. Battle expanded her repertoire into lyric soprano and coloratura soprano roles during the 1980s and early 1990s, until her eventual dismissal from the Metropolitan Opera in 1994. She later has focused on recording and the concert stage. After a 22-year absence from the Met, Battle performed a concert of spirituals at the Metropolitan Opera House in November 2016.

Opera Memphis is a Memphis, Tennessee non-profit arts organization chartered in 1956 by a group of Memphians interested in producing regional opera. Charter signatories included noted Memphians Philip Belz and Walter Chandler. Early productions consisted mainly of local singers and local directors. During this initial period the Metropolitan Opera Company toured regularly through the area and performed in Memphis two to three times per year. As the company grew, the performers and directors became more regional and the sets and costumes more professional. By the mid-1970s, Opera Memphis began bringing in well-known singers like Leontyne Price, Beverly Sills, Joan Sutherland, Sherrill Milnes, and Birgit Nilsson to perform in lead roles.
