Jonathan Williams (born 1957) is a British horn player, who lives in both Knebworth, Hertfordshire, and Fossa, near L'Aquila in Italy.

Jonathan Williams was born in Hertfordshire, England, and studied from 1975 until 1979 at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with Sydney Coulston. While still a student he joined the BBC Northern Dance Orchestra, then after leaving Manchester he joined Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet as principal horn. In 1981 he joined I Solisti Veneti. In 1982 he joined the Chamber Orchestra of Europe as principal horn, and in 1984 was invited by Nicholas Busch to join the London Philharmonic Orchestra as co-principal horn. [1] He was a founder of The Gaudier Ensemble and has recorded most of the central chamber music repertoire which includes the horn. [2] He was co-principal horn of the BBC Symphony Orchestra between 1992 and 1997. [3]

In 1986 Williams recorded Mozart's four horn concertos accompanied by Alexander Schneider and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. In 2000, he co-founded the Orchestra Citta Aperta with Carlo Crivelli to record the soundtrack for Ginostra directed by Manuel Pradal and until 2009 Orchestra Citta Aperta continued to record many soundtracks for Manuel Pradal, Mazzacurati, Ficarra e Piccone until the Abruzzo region suffered several devastating earthquakes. The home of the Orchestra Citta Aperta "Teatro La Fragolina" in Fossa and the village has remained closed since then.

From 2009 until 2015 Williams was artistic leader of the Min Ensemble of Norway, and in 2011 left the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and played frequently with the Australian Chamber Orchestra until 2015. Orchestra Citta Aperta now records in the Conservatorio in L'Aquila or in Rome. " Lost Vision " is a project planned for 2019 linking London with L'Aquila and Spain using LOLA distance technology with music by Carlo Crivelli. Since 2015 he has freelanced in London, recently[ when? ] with English National Opera, and has worked on soundtracks both in London and in Italy with Carlo Crivelli and Battista Lena.

He is the only conductor of the Hatfield Chamber Orchestra's annual concert at St Ethelreda's in Old Hatfield. [4]

Radovan Vlatković Croatian born horn player (born 1962)

Radovan Vlatković is a Croatian born horn player. He was the former principal horn of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. He left that post in 1990 to devote himself to a solo career and has recorded many of the major works for horn. He is now professor of horn at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid. Vlatković also participates as a senior artist at the Marlboro Music Festival, has performed in chamber music and solo recital for the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, and is widely considered to be one of the world's most exceptional horn players.

Michael Thompson is a British horn player. After studying at the Royal Academy of Music, Thompson was appointed Principal Horn with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra aged just 18 years. By the age of 21 he was offered positions as Principal Horn with both the Philharmonia and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, accepting the Philharmonia position, a post he held for ten years before leaving to fulfil increasing solo and chamber music commitments.

Tim Cobb

Timothy Cobb is the American current principal double bassist with the New York Philharmonic. He previously taught at the Peabody Institute of Music, and joined the Manhattan School of Music faculty in 1992. Cobb also currently teaches at SUNY Purchase, Lynn University, Rutgers University: Mason Gross School of the Arts, YOA Orchestra of the Americas, and Mannes School of Music Preparatory Division. He is the current chair of the double-bass department at the Juilliard School, where he has been on faculty since 2002.

James Wood (musician)

James Wood is a British conductor, composer of contemporary classical music and former percussionist. Wood studied composition with Nadia Boulanger in Paris from 1971 to 1972 before going on to study music at Cambridge University, where he was organ scholar of Sidney Sussex College from 1972 until 1975. After graduating from Cambridge he went on to study percussion and conducting at the Royal Academy of Music, London, from 1975 until 1976. After a further year studying percussion privately with Nicholas Cole, Wood embarked on a triple career as percussionist, composer and conductor.

Dale Clevenger was the Principal Horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 1966 until his retirement in June, 2013. After winning a Junior Exhibition to the Royal Academy of Music for piano, she switched to harp studies at age 17. Since 2014, he has been Principal Horn of Washington's National Symphony Orchestra. Pereira won several awards and prizes, including the 1998 European Master Prize.
