Jonny King (Jonathan Z. King, born 2 February 1965, New York City, New York) is an American jazz pianist, attorney, fisherman and writer.

Raised in New York City, King graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School and works as an intellectual property attorney. [1]

As well as recording under his own name, he has performed with Eddie Harris, Vincent Herring, Christian McBride, OTB, Joshua Redman, Mark Turner, and Steve Wilson. He has performed around the world and is a regular in New York City's jazz clubs. He is the author of What Jazz Is (Walker Publishing), a primer on jazz listening published in conjunction with a CD prepared by Blue Note Records.

King is also a fly tyer and fisherman. He is a member of the "Pro Team" for Tuffleye [2] and has hosted tying classes and demonstrations. [3] King is credited for creating his own variation of the Muddler Minnow pattern he named the "Kinky Muddler" and written numerous articles on the topic for magazines such as Fly Fisherman [4] [5] [6] and Salt Water Sportsman. [7]

He led a long-standing trio with bassist Doug Weiss and drummer Bill Stewart, and has also sung with his New Day Trio of bassist Rob Jost and drummer Greg Joseph.

Joe Brooks 1901–1972 was an American Fly Fisherman and popular writer about the sport of fly fishing during the mid-20th century. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1901 and died in Rochester, Minnesota in 1972. He wrote for the leading fishing and outdoor magazines of the day and was the outdoor editor for The Baltimore Sun. He also wrote ten books about fly fishing, several of which are still considered leading authorities on the subject. He is listed by a leading online fly fishing publication, Fly Fishing Frenzy, as one of the 10 most influential fishermen ever. And the IGFA and others said he did more to popularize and expand fly fishing than any other individual.
