Jorge Xavier Murrieta Fernández (born 23 November 1985) is a sailor from Mexico. [1]

Murrieta is North American Champion in two different classes: J/24 and Snipe. He won the 2009 J/24 North Americans, hosted by the Club Náutico Valle de Bravo in México, [2] [3] and the 2010 Snipe North American Championship hosted by the Ponce Yacht and Fishing Club in Puerto Rico. [4]

J/24

The J/24 is an international One-Design keelboat class as defined by the International Sailing Federation. The J/24 was created to fulfill the diverse needs of recreational sailors such as cruising, one design racing, day sailing, and handicap racing.

Snipe (dinghy) ship type

The Snipe is a ​15 12 foot, 2 person, one design racing dinghy. Designed by William F. Crosby in 1931, it has evolved into a modern, tactical racing dinghy with fleets around the world. The class is governed by the Snipe Class International Racing Association (SCIRA) and recognized by the International Sailing Federation as an International Class sailed in 30 different countries. There have been over 31,000 Snipes constructed worldwide.

The Snipe North American Championship is the annual North American Championship for sailing in the Snipe class.

Pan American Games

Sailing competitions at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro was held in July 2011 at the Marina da Gloria.
