Jose Yenque is an American actor who appeared in the films The Blue Diner (2001), Miss Bala (2011), won an ALMA Award for his role in Traffic (2000), and an Imagen Award for his role in Between (2007).
Yenque was born in Brooklyn, New York City, to Peruvian immigrant parents. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] His mother is actress Teresa Yenque, [6] [7] and he took up acting as a teenager after she enrolled him in theater classes. [8] [3]
Yenque co-founded East Los Angeles Society of Film & Arts. [5]
In 1995, Yenque did a play called El Cano with Ed Trucco. [9] In 1999, on the set of The Blue Diner, Esra Gaffin said Yenque had prepped for a different role, mentioning he had the ability from previous roles to handle several types of firearms. [10]
In 2001, Yenque and fellow actors Marisol Padilla Sanchez, Majandra Delfino, and Jacob Vargas won Outstanding Latino Cast in a Feature Film for Traffic at the ALMA Awards. [11] [12] In 2007, Yenque won Ambassador of the Year at the 11th International Hispanic Awards. He said that because the acting roles he was doing gave latinos bad representation, he began to donate money to a Tijuana orphanage. [13] In 2012, he founded Arts for a Better Tomorrow, bringing change to orphanages in Baja California. [8] [3]
In 2020, Yenque helped raised funds during a virtual reading of Flowers Behind the Mountain by Barbara Bennion, benfiting the Artes Para un Mejor Mañana foundation. [14] Yenque starred alongside Paco Mufote in Contratiempo. [15]

Los Tucanes De Tijuana are a Mexican norteño band led by Mario Quintero Lara. The band was founded in Tijuana, Baja California in 1987. They, along with Los Tigres del Norte, were pioneers in playing their music in a rougher manner as opposed to the traditional norteño music of northeastern Mexico, subsequently influencing many other norteño artists from Mexico’s pacific states and giving that region of the country its signature norteño sound. During their career, Los Tucanes de Tijuana have garnered several awards and recognitions, including a Latin Grammy in 2012 for the album 365 días, five Grammy Award nominations, nine Lo Nuestro Awards nominations and multiple BMI Awards for Quintero as a composer. They are the first norteño music band to obtain an international film award by winning the Un Certain Regard Angel Film award at the Monaco International Film Festival for their participation in the documentary Los ilegales. In 2008, the group received a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame.
Pantelion Films was an American film production company that was created in 2010 and based in Santa Monica, California. The studio's goal was to bring wider theatrical distribution of movies aimed at Latino audiences. It was backed by TelevisaUnivision and Lionsgate Studios. Making theatrical relationships with movie exhibition chains including Regal Entertainment Group, AMC Theatres, Cinemex, and Cinemark, the studio raised the level of theatrically-released Latino films. Under that arrangement, Pantelion was active with its own office from 2010 to 2023. The studio's first film was 2011's From Prada to Nada, which Lionsgate and Grupo Televisa announced it had commissioned for a television series that did not materialize in 2012. The studio's office was discontinued in 2023 and its website redirected in 2024 effectively ending the studio's operational lifecycle though not the usage of its trademark for existing unreleased if not future productions.
