Joseph Di Pasquale is an Italian architect.
Graduated with honors in architecture at Politecnico di Milano in 1991. Honorary degree in Social and Political Science, ISFOA University, Zurich 2024. In 2019 he got a "cum laude" PhD at Politecnico di Milano with the thesis: "Hybrid Modular Architecture: a strategic framework of building innovation for emerging housing behaviors in urban contexts". Since 2009 contract professor at the Faculty of Architecture at Politecnico di Milano. In 2001 he studied Film Directing in New York Film Academy. He started his professional practice JDP Architects [1] since 1992 and operates in Europe and China.
Di Pasquale claims a lack of identity in contemporary globalized architecture, considers himself an architectural storyteller and a seeker of new interpretations for the contemporary city. In the book "Dense City" he identifies a structural relationship between urban density and cultural identity in urban fabric and architecture. [2] He states "the contemporary city is no longer able to generate significant urban space because the modern architecture has abandoned the idea of "facade", which means the idea to orient the buildings, therefore the city no longer looks toward its space, but it's made by architectures that are meant to be looked upon as single sculptures or objects". Since 2008, he has produced several works on cultural dissemination with lectures and conferences in Italy, China, Russia and the United States. He has been an observer of the historical meeting between Chinese tradition and the western contemporary society in the early 21st century. In 2013, he declared to the Il Sole 24 Ore that contemporary Chinese society and architecture are "seeking the contemporary transposition of its millenary tradition [3] ". Di Pasquale is the author of many articles in "L'Arca International" magazine. [4] In his academic research he defines and investigates hybrid modular systems and concepts in terms of process innovation linked with the ongoing deep changes of lifestyles and housing habits in contemporaneity. In the further development of experimental research on the innovation of residential typologies in urban contexts, Joseph di Pasquale defines the concept of adaptive housing which inverts the relationship between user needs and the size of the accommodation: instead of the users adapting to the dimensions of the home, it is the home that expands and shrinks according to the evolving needs of individuals and families over time. [5] [6] [7] [8] In 2023 he designed the first adaptive housing building and founded a development company for its construction in Milan, financing the operation through crowdfunding. [9] [10]
He won several national and international competitions of architecture, among which the Tianjin Eco Town and the Guangzhou Circle, opened in 2013, that CNN listed in the 10 most interesting buildings that will appear in 2014 worldwide. [11] Other relevant projects are Gewiss production plant, Intercos, Polini, Valsir, Aerea headquarter, amusement park of Minitalia Leolandia in Turate (Italy), and the masterplan Choruslife Bergamo in 2016.

Carlo Ratti is an Italian architect, engineer, educator and author. He is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he directs the MIT Senseable City Lab, a research group that explores how new technologies are changing the way we understand, design and ultimately live in cities. Ratti is also a founding partner of the international design and innovation office CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati, which has offices in Turin, New York and London. He is also a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano and an Honorary Professor at TTPU Tashkent. Ratti was named one of the "50 most influential designers in America" by Fast Company and highlighted in Wired magazine's "Smart List: 50 people who will change the world".

Luigi Walter Moretti was an Italian architect. Active especially in Italy from the 1930s, he designed buildings such as the Watergate Complex in Washington DC, The Academy of Fencing, and Il Girasole house, both in Rome. He was the founder of the Institute for Operations Research and Applied Mathematics Urbanism, where he developed his research on the history of architecture, and on the application of algorithmic methods to architectural design. In 2000 Paolo Brescia and Tommaso Principi established the collective OBR to investigate new ways of contemporary living, creating a design network among Milan, London and New York. After working with Renzo Piano, Paolo and Tommaso have oriented the research of OBR towards the integration artifice-nature, to create sensitive architecture in perpetual change, stimulating the interaction between man and environment. The team of OBR develops its design activity through public-private social programs, promoting – through architecture – the sense of community and the individual identities. Today OBR is group open to different multidisciplinary contributors, cooperating with different universities, such as Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, Aalto University, Academy of Architecture of Mumbai and Mimar Sinan Fine Art University. Among the best known works by OBR are the Pythagoras Museum, the New Galleria Sabauda in Turin, the Milanofiori Residential Complex, the Children Hospital in Parma, the Galliera Hospital in Genoa, the Lido of Genoa, the Ex Cinema Roma, the Triennale di Milano Terrace. The under construction projects by OBR include the Lehariya Cluster in Jaipur, the Jafza Traders Market in Dubai and the Multiuse Complex Ahmad Qasir in Teheran. OBR's projects have been featured in Venice Biennale of Architecture, Royal Institute of British Architects in London, Bienal de Arquitetura of Brasilia, MAXXI in Rome and Triennale di Milano. OBR has been awarded with the AR Award for Emerging Architecture at RIBA, the Plusform under 40, the Urbanpromo at the 11° Biennale di Venezia, the honourable mention for the Medaglia d'Oro all'Architettura Italiana, the Europe 40 Under 40 in Madrid, the Leaf Award overall winner in London, the WAN Residential Award, the Building Healthcare Award, the Inarch Award for Italian Architecture and the American Architecture Prize in New York. Since 2004 OBR has been evolving its design parameters according to the environmental and energy certification LEED and since 2009 OBR is partner of the GBC.
Paolo Brescia is an Italian architect and founder of OBR Open Building Research. He graduated with a degree in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 1996 and had his academic fellowship at Architectural Association in London. After working with Renzo Piano, he founded in 2000 OBR with Tommaso Principi to investigate new ways of contemporary living, creating a design network among Milan, London, Mumbai and New York. He combines his professional experience with the academic world as guest lecturer in several athenaeums, such as Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, Kent State University, Aalto University, University of Oulu, Academy of Architecture of Mumbai, College of Architecture of Pune, Mimar Sinan Fine Art University, Hacettepe University, Florida International University in Miami. He was university professor in charge at Politecnico di Milano (2004–2005) and University of Genoa (2013–2015). Romolo Calabrese, is an Italian architect, active nationally and internationally in the design field and in theoretical debate. He was born in Milan and studied architecture at Politecnico di Milano where he graduated in 1998. From 1995 to 1997 he trained at Aldo Rossi's office, who he collaborated with on several projects. In 1999 he founded RRC Studio Architetti in Milan and in 2003 he opened a second office in Cap d'Ail, France. By participating in many architectural competitions, he won in 2007 the first prize for the construction of a block of "Viviendas y Oficinas" in Zaragoza, a project within Expo 2008's urban development of the city. Later he participated in Rizoma's exhibition: "Biennale Giovani Architetti Italiani". In 2012 he won the first prize for a secondary school in Berlingo.
