69+23 innings pitched. [4] In 2022, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. [5] As a sophomore in 2023, he helped lead Wake Forest to the College World Series. [6] [7] He finished the season 11–2 with a 2.81 ERA and 140 strikeouts in 13 over 18 games. He was named a first team All-American by Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Hurtle entered his junior season in 2024 as a top prospect for the 2024 Major League Baseball draft. [8]

Professional career

The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted Hartle in the 3rd round, with the 83rd overall selection, of the 2024 Major League Baseball draft. [9] On July 23, 2024, Hartle signed with Pittsburgh on an underslot contract worth $850,000. [10]
