Jovia Mutesi (born September 21 1997) is the fifth Inhebantu of Busoga [1] since 2023. [2] [3] [4]
Mutesi is the first born and daughter of Stanley Bayole and Rebecca Nakisita Bayole. Her father is the Bulambuli Resident District Commissioner, Local Council One (LC1) chairperson of St. Matia Mulumba.He also served as an LC3 chairperson of Mayuge Town Council. Jovia Mutesi was announced as the Inhebantu of Busonga on the 7 September 2023 at the Busoga headquarters in Bugembe by Joseph Muvawala. [11] [16] [6]
She married William Gabula Nadiope IV on the 18 November 2023 at Christ's Church Cathedral in JinJa City. [2] [3] [17] [18] Their wedding reception was at Igenge Palace in Jinja on the 18 November 2023. [19] Afterwards, William Gabula visited Mutesi's parents in her ancestral home in Mayuge district on a private traditional ceremony. [11]
Soga, or Lusoga, is a Bantu language spoken by the Soga people of the Busoga region in Eastern Uganda. With over three million speakers, it is one of the major languages of Uganda, after English, Swahili, and Luganda. However, it is largely restricted to the Busoga region, which is mainly within the natural boundaries of Lake Victoria to the south, Lake Kyoga to the north, the Nile river to the west and the Mpologoma ('Lion') river to the east of Namutumba district. It is tonal.

This name was a symbol of unity derived from the expression and recognition by the people of Busoga that their leader was the "father of all people who brings all of them together", and who also serves as their cultural leader. Traditionally, the Kyabazinga throne rotates between chiefs in a timely election of the Lukiiko.

Kyabazinga Henry Wako Muloki OBE was a Ugandan Kyabazinga of Busoga, the title given to the ruler of the Kingdom of Busoga, a traditional kingdom within Uganda. Muloki first became Kyabazinga of Busoga in 1955, a position he held until then Ugandan Prime Minister Milton Obote abolished all traditional institutions and kingdoms within the country in 1966. Muloki regained the title of Kyabazinga on February 11, 1995, after the Ugandan government restored the traditional kingdoms.
The Soga are a Bantu ethnic group native to the kingdom of Busoga in eastern Uganda. The Basoga live in Uganda's districts of Bugiri, Iganga, Jinja, Kamuli, and Mayuge though new districts were formed later like Luuka, Kaliro, Namayingo, Bugweri, Namutunba and Buyende. Situated in eastern Uganda immediately north of the equator, Busoga is bounded by Lake Kyoga to the north, the Victoria Nile to the west, the Mpologoma River to the east, and Lake Victoria to the south. Busoga is 3,443 square miles in area, with a length of about 100 miles and a width of a little over 50 miles. These natural boundaries have enabled Basoga to have a uniqueness of their own as a group.
Kiira College Butiki (KCB) commonly referred to as Butiki, is an all-boys boarding public secondary school (high school) located in Jinja district, in the Eastern region of Uganda. The school is located on Butiki hill, in Namulesa trading center, along the Jinja-Kamuli Highway. It is approximately 14 kilometers (approx. 8.7 miles) from Jinja town. The school was named after River Nile (which is known as Kiira among the local Basoga people). The Nile River derives its source from Lake Victoria in Jinja, Uganda. The school motto is Discipline & Hard Work. The school was founded in 1959. As a public secondary school that is run by both. Unlike in developed countries like the US, the funds used to run public schools are from both the Government (through the Ministry of Education) and from private tuition agreed upon by school PTA committees of the respective school; a public-private interaction funding. Teacher salaries are mainly paid by the Ugandan Government. However, teachers also receive allowances from the tuition paid by the students.
William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV, the Gabula of Bugabula, is the reigning Kyabazinga of Busoga, a constitutional kingdom in modern-day Uganda. He is the fourth Kyabazinga of Busoga.
