Joy Philip Kakkanattu,CMI is an is an Indian Syro-Malabar Catholic priest,theologian,and biblical scholar known for his contributions to Old Testament studies,particularly the Book of Hosea. He is currently the President of Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (DVK),Bengaluru,Catholic Biblical Association of India(CBAI),and Catholic Faculties in India (CFI) and also holds several academic and theological leadership roles in India. Kakkanattu was born in Kerala,India. He earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University,Kerala,in 1989. He later completed a Bachelor of Philosophy (B.Ph.) in 1986 and a 'Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) in 1994 at Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (DVK),Bengaluru. [3]
He received a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture (LSS) from the Pontifical Biblical Institute,Rome,in 1999,and a Doctorate in Biblical Theology (STD) from the Pontifical Gregorian University,Rome,in 2005. His doctoral dissertation,God’s Enduring Love in the Book of Hosea,was published by Mohr Siebeck in 2006. [4] [5] [6]
Kakkanattu has served as a resident professor of Sacred Scripture at DVK for over 19 years,and he currently serves as its President. [7] His teaching and research interests include Old Testament studies,contextual biblical interpretation,and thematic biblical theology.

He is also a visiting faculty member at several theological institutes,including Kristhujyoti College,the Indian Institute of Spirituality,and Vijnananilayam,Eluru. He regularly offers weekend online classes on biblical topics and engages in pastoral and formational ministry. Kakkanattu is also a music composer and lyricist,integrating biblical themes into his creative work. [11] [12]
